Invisible Scars of DV
My name is Melissa Holmes, I am a two time domestic violence survivor who has dedicated her life to bringing awareness to this issue that is plaguing our communities. After being abused for several years by two different men in two consecutive relationships, I finally had the strength to leave 6 years ago after almost being killed,by my second abuser. After surviving I started a group called Love Shouldn't Hurt NY, which is geared to help victims and survivors. This documentary can save life's.

If you have been affected in anyway by domestic violence in your community, take a stand, you can take or make a stand ANYWHERE....any help that you can give someone to help save a life is extremely important. Become that pillar in you community to help with social change...so many families have been affected because they didn't have the support, resources or the knowledge about Domestic Violence. I am trying to create a tool with this documentary, so others can become educated and understand how long lasting affects causes homes to become 'broken with mental illness. I am asking you to join forces with me to sound the alarm on Domestic Violence, and to encourage others to get out and get help. Giving a contribution is a small price to pay to HELP save many lives. Take a good look at this picture and tell me what's the first thing that comes to your mind. This is becoming more sickening and scarier to think that this will continue to be our future unless we as people come together and make our voices be heard. We have to think of creative ways to educate and bring awareness to Domestic Violence so that this doesn't becomes another parents reality...NO parent should have to bury there child due to Domestic Violence... so I need your help in raising money to create a documentary called Invisible Scars of Domestic Violence, that I also plan on entering into the SUNDANCE and TRIBECA film festivals once completed. But first funds must be raised to make this happen, so help me raise money to save lives, there has been NO CONTRIBUTIONS, in over a week....please donate, share the link, encourage others to support this much needed cause.

I am a 2x domestic violence survivor and I'm not afraid anymore....and you shouldn't be either...there comes a time where we all must take a stand for what we passionately believe in or what we feel is right. Lots of times people say they want to get involved but don't know how, but when given the opportunity they never take it....I am speaking from experience, we as people have the responsibility to get involved especially if it's to save other lives....DO NOT WAIT till your home is affected by domestic violence before you decide to make a difference.... because if your not part of the solution, that means your part of the existing problem of Domestic Violence.... I can't think of a better cause to be apart of to make a difference to save lives....anyone's testimony can save someone's else life....someone may need to hear what you have to say....So I'm asking you to get involved with this project to film a documentary on Domestic Violence click and donate as little as a $1.00

I can't think of a better movement to get involved with then Domestic Violence, just like breast cancer, domestic violence is claiming just as many lives. If we STAND together in this movement, to help get laws changed, to show why they should be stiffer jail penalties to those who commit crimes against there spouse, parents, siblings or anyone. We have to continue to invent different ways to have our voices be heard, to let them know how serious this is in our community.... this documentary will highlight the devastating affects of Domestic Violence and how it affects everyone in the family. It's time to make noise and sound the alarms on Domestic Violence before someone else gets killed....We need to tackle domestic violence from all angles of educating to let others know we will no longer stay silent while others suffer in silence. Domestic Violence is becoming a serious issue for not just WOMAN, but MEN, and our teenager's in our community. We have an responsible to share all knowledge in any form to help save lives. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE has affected my family in the worse way over the years, I am the first in my family to break the cycle....I made the decision to dedicate my life in bringing awareness and sharing all knowledge with others to avoid some of the hurt my family suffered. This documentary would be a huge piece of the puzzle to let others into my world and see what I experienced first hand, and have them learn from some of my mistakes but also to empower, inspire, and encourage others to see that there is a way out and you don't have to settle for less.

Real love doesn't KILL,we must become our sister's keeper and do our part in making sure there educated about the signs of Domestic Violence.... we must learn that when we see something or hear something we must get involved and not turn a blind....we must learn to get involved before it actually hits close to home....We are someone's mother, sister, aunts,cousins,and we must take a stand, not just for woman but for our men who are also being abused....with your help this documentary will highlight the most common issues of domestic violence as well as highlight issues people really don't think is considered domestic violence.... there is no amount to little to educate and save a life...Click and donate to help someone you don't know, you don't have to know someone in order to help....Knowledge is POWER!

We must become our sister's keeper, we must take a stand for those who can't stand up for themselves...We must teach and educate and provide the proper tools, to help others deal with this epidemic of Domestic Violence.... we must not wait until domestic violence hit close to home before we get involved....Domestic Violence is DESTROYING more families then I care to acknowledge.... when does it STOP, our kids lives are also being claim either by death or jail trying to protect there love one's from an abuser. The purpose of this documentary is to give you a first hand look at the devastation domestic violence caused in my family, and how people suffer in SILENCE, as we touch the minds of the abusive. Love Shouldn't Hurt as we identify to know that if it hurts it's NOT love...we have to learn how to identify what love feels like, what it looks likes, and how we want it...we must NOT except nothing less then what we deserve...Domestic Violence Awareness is the key to understanding and preventing some of the senseless acts that are occurring more often then need be....Together we can stand tall and let our voices be heard, that we are not gonna be quiet we will continue to SPEAK OUT and tell our stories to inspire, empower and give others FAITH knowing there not alone. So many woman have ended up just like this picture because of an abusive spouse....To scared to leave or she just didn't know how too...this is becoming more common and someone needs to take a stand to make sure this does not continue. With the help of the Invisible Scars of Domestic Violence Documentary, will can educate and provide tools to individuals who don't see a way out, this will give hope and faith to others to never give up but remain safe while figuring out a safe way to escape. The voiceless still has a voice as long as we continue the good fight with bringing awareness to the very thing that is killing our community. Take a good look at this picture, it is so profound...and this is becoming more common, that we as humans would think that if he or she beats you nd leave bruises it's because he/she loves you RIGHT, that is far from the truth...this is the very reason educating and bringing awareness to Domestic Violence is extremely crucial so we can understand that this is NOT exceptable in any case. Domestic Violence is at an all time HIGH and together we must find a way to decrease these numbers and avoid so many homicides related cases. I have taking steps to do my part in bringing awareness, so why don't you take the next step to help me take it one step further in releasing a domestic violence documentary called Invisible Scars of Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence has many different ways of attacking one's life...the after affects can leave you with Anxiety, PTSD, Panic Attacks and so much more...My plan for the Invisible Scars of Domestic Violence is to unmask the ugliness of Domestic Violence and highlight the devastating affects that Domestic Violence has on a family. He hits you....BUT he says he is sorry He calls you a bitch....BUT he says he doesn't mean it, You want to go out with your girlfriends....BUT he won't let you....He controls what you wear, he controls and watches your every move....He says he LOVES you, that's why he do the things he do....He says your the reason why he hit you, cause you made him do it....He forces you to have sex when you don't want too...He is mad because dinner isn't ready....These are a few clear signs of ABUSE, when does it STOP!! Look at this chart, it is alarming to see the spike in Domestic Violence, together we must fight to get these number of cases down....Domestic Violence has become the number #1 reason for homicides in different states such as South Carolina.... Speaking out and not staying silent was the best decision I could of made, after coming close to death NOT once but twice...It is truly sad I had to suffer abuse at the hands of two different men, after those trails of survival I found my purpose...and that's to educate and tell my story to anyone who would listen, and anyway I could make a difference....so my goal is to raise money to do my documentary called Invisible Scars of Domestic Violence, although I was physically abused those scars healed, the ones that hurt the most are invisible, the mental, emotional etc. This documentary will serve as a learning and awareness tool to make individuals aware of the signs, how to escape safely, and the resources available. How can we tell someone that's being abused they should leave, but don't provide them with the necessary tools to survive , how can they leave and is not educated on how dangerous it could be after doing so, how can we suggest these things and NOT provide a solution for there situation....The solution is too educate and empower to provide the tools to the avenues to keep themselves and family safe, and that's exactly what this documentary will provide for anyone who has the pleasure of seeing it.
