A local family of 10 needs our help to drastically improve their living situation...and much of the work is already done. They just need help to finish what they've started. And with a matching fund available, even a little donation will make a difference. Here's their story:

"Honor your father and mother.." This isn't just a quaint Bible verse for this family; it's a way of life. Leaving a home and well-paying job out of state, this homeschooling family moved here to help a widowed elderly mother/grandmother. The dad knew he would have to accept a lower-paying job to come here. The kids knew they would have to move into an old, small trailer and give up having the things 'normal' kids would expect, but they knew that Grandma, who can no longer live alone, needed their help.

For about 3 years now, the dad has worked hard, both at his job and at trying to build a home for all of them, but the funds have come up short to finish the project. The house is 'dried in' and walls are up, but it still needs electrical, plumbing, insulation, etc. to be livable.

This isn't a family living off of government assistance and looking for a hand out. And this project was initiated by others wanting to assist this deserving family. They are very involved in their local church, quick to volunteer to help others, and doing all they can to honor their mother and provide for her. They just need our help to get out of a rundown, cramped trailer and into suitable housing.

A $2,500 matching fund is currently available for donations made through November, doubling your gift, so even a small donation makes an impact. The plan is to raise $25,000 to finish the house, hopefully by Christmas.

Latest Update

Electric and plumbing inspections passed! Utilities connected, including HVAC! Raising $ now for insulation and sheet rock ($6000 to cover both). We're getting close to the finish line!

It's a favorite pastime, hearing and sharing stories—some happy, some sad, some scary and other times deeply affecting. One story, shared over a recent camping weekend, actually inspired an entire community to reach out in a meaningful way to help a family in need. It all began one evening during a father/son camping weekend, when some dads huddled around a fire talking about life. After roughing it together at a primitive campsite, the men felt at ease with each other and one by one they told their stories. When the last dad told his story everyone got quiet; this story was almost too hard and too sad to imagine. He told the other men about how he used to have a good-paying job in another state and how he'd earned enough money to provide a comf
