At 22 weeks, Brittany had an unexpected trip to the hospital, due to pregnancy complications. While at the hospital, the doctors informed Brittany that her baby boy had a less than one percent chance of survival. Devastated and in disbelief, Brittany knew that there was a high probability that she would go into pre-term labor, as this was her second pregnancy. At this time, Brittany was ordered to a strict bedrest.
During this time, there were a few false alarms where she would go into labor, but the doctors were able to stop the progression with medication. After 38 days of bedrest, on April 7, 2016 at 27 weeks, Brittany gave birth to Kashton Aaron Summers.
He is a little fighter and continues to fight everyday. Slowly gaining weight, getting weaned off oxygen, Kashton is achieving more and more NICU milestones daily. While this little blessing may have swept his mom off her feet, witnessing him thrive is keeping his family standing strong.
The Hillcrest Christian Early Learning Center's Parent Advisory Committee is seeking assistance from our community of family and friends to assist the Summers family with the medical costs associated with Kashton's Journey. 100% of the proceeds from this fundraiser will graciously be applied to the growing medical bills that the family is incurring. Donations in person via Cash and/or Check are preferred. Hillcrest families can drop them off in the drop box and indicate Kashton's Journey or can mail them to the Hillcrest Christian ELC Parent Advisory Commitee. Should you not be able to donate via cash or check, you may donate with wepay via the link above.
