Our sweet baby cat, Cricket, was rushed into emergency surgery last Friday after swallowing a penny (which we later found out had released zinc into her bloodstream and nearly eroded a hole in her intestines). We were told she would be sent home two days later, but Cricket had some complications from the surgery, including zinc toxicity and anemia, and has had to stay in a 24-hour veterinary hospital for an entire week now. She is such a sweet, funny cat, and is best friends with our 7 month old daughter, Hazel, so we are eager to see her recover and come home! We are hoping for a full recovery but we have a long way to go yet until Cricket can leave the care of her amazing doctors. We could not have anticipated the expense of such comprehensive care and were not able to budget for her to stay for so long! Please help if you can. We appreciate it!

Latest Update

Thank you all for your thoughtful & generous donations! You are making such a huge difference and we appreciate it! Cricket is definitely happy to be home, and is so excited to be with Hazel - in fact, last night she was so excited that she curled up next to our napping baby so she could snuggle. Cricket has started to eat more and seems in good spirits - one more trip to the vet tomorrow to check her blood for further signs of anemia, and then hopefully a break from all of the poking & prodding!

We are pleased to share that Cricket was able to come home late yesterday after 8 days at the vet! She has to take several medications over the next two weeks and is a little drowsy but otherwise doing well at home. She even laid down next to her "sister" Hazel so they could share a hug. :) The total tally is close to $7,000 so any help is greatly appreciated by our entire family!
