Damion’s insurance (Aetna) will NOT cover either of his 2 operations at all, only his regular checkups, his father only has basic coverage & medicaid will NOT pay ANY of the bills until Aetna pays some. This is an uphill battle. I am reaching out to others in hopes that they can help, either by donating or by sharing this campaign. Those that have followed us know he was very sick for a while before the doctors figured out the problem, he had surgery on 1/27/15 & 3/30/15 & is feeling much better but we now have around $60,000 in medical bills that I cannot pay. I am praying for a miracle and i know that the miracle lays in the hearts of others. If you can find it in your heart to donate and/or share our campaign we would appreciate it more than you could even imagine. God Bless you all. I will continue to pray and believe. Matthew 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."..... Thank you guys so much I love each and every one of you!!

I'd suggest calling Aetna directly- definitely contest their denial. If you push, they usually will pay, so keep calling! The hospital may be able to refer you to someone that could help you when you communicate with Aetna, or they may not, but contest Aetna's denial officially and they usually come around, from what my experience has been. Don't take no for an answer! Of course, easier said then done, when you've got the actual surgery and recovery- not to mention the daily stuff- all piling on. See if the hospital has anyone that could help, or to refer you to someone to help with the claim process with Aetna? Maybe someone else here knows of resources I do not and could chime in? Wishing your family well, especially on this Monday! ~Sarah

Margo, I've heard of many insurance companies denying claims the first time they are submitted on principle- not very fair! I'd encourage you to challenge their decision, possibly finding an ally in the hospital billing department to advocate on your behalf. It's a headache to say the least, but many people who challenge a denial end up with insurance covering the bills. Please don't take that initial no as an absolute no, it doesn't have to be! Best of luck to your family and a safe surgery and speedy recovery to your son ~Sarah

Arianna came home and checked the mail and handed me an envelope. It was addressed to me from Anne Batten of East Hardwick. I opened it and inside was a note and a check for $200.00. I tried adding that and the check I received from my aunt Earlene Hopkins for $300; here so it was updated. I was extremely surprised and very happy to receive the check! Thank you Anne and Aunt Earlene!

Damion has been feeling much better for the most part and is anxious to get the other procedures done and out of the way. March 30th can not come quick enough for him. I want to thank everyone for your kindness and generosity. You have been a huge help in our time of need and I will be forever grateful. You have all helped me to believe in humanity again. We have 23 days left in this fundraiser and I am hoping we will have enough to cover the costs of the next stay and such in March from that. If there is anything I can do to return the favor please feel free to contact me, I am only an email or phone call away. (Also I am going to fix the original request as I didnt know it would delete it permanently when I updated it, just so your aware :)

The initial surgery is done but they only did one of the two (2) they were supposed to do on Tuesday, so now we are going back March 30th for both the Stent removal and the hydraseal removal. They were concerned that he would be in way too much pain so are putting the hydraseal off until the stent removal and also because it was two different parts of the body but the other two surgeries are both on the same part so to them it seemed smarter. I am concerned about him being put under again at all due to his horrible reaction to the anesthesia :( The money we have earned has gone towards the hotel and food and gas, the rest of the money earned with go towards his unpaid medical costs and any that I can save I am going to save until his next procedure :) We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and appreciate you more than you will ever know. We appreciate all continuing help! With love from Margo, Damion, Arianna & James <3 <3

MJ's Helping You Make Money :It has been one heck of a LONG day,..we are just getting back to the hotel and eating supper. So completely exhausted,..worried about Damion but I know he will pull through fine. He was holding himself together better than most adults I know would be able to do. This say has been on heck of an,..i don't even know how to describe it,..what word to use,..long, stressful, tiring, bittersweet,.. They were supposed to do BOTH of his surgeries today BUT decided to hold off on the other one they were going to do because of the extra strain, the fact that it was a different body part and because they were concerned about him being able to deal with the pain. At first I was upset but then I was able to get my head 'on straight' and realized they are right. So he will have another surgery in about 3 weeks and then another shortly after that, unless they decide that they can do both of them together for sure. I am not impressed with the hospital at all, I will say

took so much longer or why he has a huge swollen red welt on his right side...I feel like there is something they aren't saying. So anyway when they finally got in there they found out that they were not accurate; the Dr was 99% sure that he had a Congenital (Hereditary) abnormality that produced a narrow ureter & caused a nearby blood vessel to strangle the ureter because 98% of the time that was the issue and the other possibility was not seen in people his age,.but he actually had the rare issue, rare meaning 16 year old's do not have this issue and that only 2% of the population get Ureteropelvic Junction Obstruction (UPJ obstruction); also this is rare in males,.. Okay so enough rambling for tonight. Thank you all for getting us closer to our goal amount everyday,..we are only $2895 shy of our bare minimum needed amount!! I love you all for everything you have done, are doing and continue to do!! <3

I am not impressed with the hospital at all, I will say that much and tomorrow the first thing I am doing is contacting the Social Worker! Because they only did one surgery it as supposed to be 2 to 2 and 3/4 of an hour tops but for some reason it took twice as long and they came out and told us we could see him in 20 minutes, it was about 90 minutes later when they came out to get us to see him. They mentioned that he had had a difficult time breathing on his own and said nothing more. About 45 minutes later when Damion was awake (wasn't when I went in at first) he asked why he had blood on his thumb and before I could answer him the nurse told him that when he was trying to come out of the anesthesia his lungs and muscles were not working so his tongue flopped back words and they ended up having to shove a tube down his nose to make his lungs work and another tube to push his tongue into place; what frustrates me the most is that they didn't tell us about that or why it took so much
