My son Robert, age 16, has struggled with Asperger syndrome for years. When he was 14 he was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis. Myasthenia gravis is a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease characterized by varying degrees of weakness of the skeletal (voluntary) muscles of the body.
In 2011, my wife, Heather suffered a stroke. In 2013, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 head and neck cancer, which is now in remission. Her recovery from both of these episodes has been amazing.
The financial toll that these events have had on my family is as you would expect ...devastating. Our retirement plans and savings along with current income have been depleted and we continue to make installment payments to medical providers. We will have ongoing cost with Robert as a result of his conditions.
Any help that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
