Help send me to Spain to walk the pilgrimage El Camino de Santiago in honor of my partner Michael Mathieu who cannot walk. We are now in the 4th year post accident (he has quadriplegia as a result of a mountain biking accident) and I am in need of some serious respite and much needed time away. The funds will help me pay for my trip, airfare, new walking shoes, etc. AND $1000 of the money raised will directly go into Michael's fund to help pay for overnight care and rehab needs. Thank you!

Latest Update

Hello everyone. Tis the season of welcoming in the light once again. And I wish you all peace and abundance at this time of the year. Just wanted to send a quick update here...I had hoped to send you all a small slide show and I am running into numerous technical difficulties with my computer. Please be patient. If anyone knows how to use Flickr and is willing to help me out, please contact me. Many thanks. And thanks once again for all of your donations. I am still learning and healing from my journey on the Camino-indeed, it is the one event that illuminated my life in 2015! And I look forward to sharing with you soon. This photo was taken on the day we crossed up and over the Pyranees-it was amazingly gorgeous and a serious physical as well as emotional challenge. Much love to you all!!! xoxo, Beth

Hello Everyone! I have returned from my epic journey of walking El Camino. I am still blown away by your generosity! Thank you for supporting both me and Michael in our crazy journey of life with quadriplegia. I have decided to keep my fund open until December 1st to continue to raise funds that will directly go to Michael's care. I will be sending a small photo album to those of you who donated to me. Please be patient-the Camino taught me the value of slowing down. Much much love and gratitude to all of you!!!

Yesterday I was blown away with the generosity as the donations kept pouring in. I have now exceeded my goal! I cried tears of joy and gratitude as I felt the love and support from all. To be supported to continue this path is just what I needed. Thank you!!! My Plumfund will remain open until November and I will continue to collect funds. All future funds will be given to Michael's needs. He is launching a new website devoted to his recovery journey, ways to support him-working or volunteering, and raising funds to support this quadriplegia lifestyle. Some funds may be set aside for my care for the caregiver get-aways so that I can replenish my well in order to give again. With deep deep gratitude... Beth ps-I leave in one week! I plan to post an update after my trip is done. Stay tuned.

Hi Everyone, I leave two weeks from tomorrow!!! And I have almost reached my goal. Thank you to everyone who has given! At this point I am mostly raising money to give to Michael's fundraising efforts. Being quadriplegic is extremely expensive and so every contribution will be put to very good use. I have also increased my goal by $500 dollars as I may not receive the scholarship that was offered to me due to a low number of pilgrims. Either way, I am grateful and either way, I am still walking in prayers. Please send any amount if you feel called to help us-both the caregiver-ME and the one who needs the care-Michael. Much love and thank you!!!

I love this journey of my life like I love this rock. One month from now I will be enroute to Bilboa Spain where I will join many others as we intentionally walk El Camino. I still need your help to make the journey run smoothly-both for myself and for Michael's care. Please consider even a small donation-$20 helps a lot. Thanks so much and please share.

This photo is Michael and I walking and rolling together yesterday. I really do wish he could join me on El Camino. He will be with me every step of the way-I am walking for him. I have most of the funds I need for the basics of my trip-plane ticket, & payment to the hosts/leaders for the trip. Now I need to buy some shoes and other supplies. I also wanted to raise $1000 just for Michael's fund. We have to hire overnight care almost every night-that is like hiring a baby sitter every day. So, I welcome your contributions to help us stay sane with this quadriplegic reality. Thanks to everyone who has donated and for the recent cash donations. Much love and gratitude!!!

Hurray! I just bought my plane ticket to Bilbao! I am excited yet sad. The last time I went to Spain Michael with his beautiful able-body came with me. When I go away on trips now it is so bittersweet-grateful to get away yet sad to be without Michael. Sigh. Thanks for making this possible!!! Now I need to buy my shoes.

I am already learning from El Camino. I am now walking almost every day to prep for the 10+ miles I will walk in Oct/Nov. I am already benefitting from this new habit. I remember learning about the negative habits of being a caregiver during Michael's stay at Craig hospital, and I thought-oh, this will not happen to me. And it did...the negative habit was not doing enough exercise. So, thank you Camino for getting me back into shape. And thanks everyone for the donations and support. Love and gratitude to you all. (The picture is on my morning walk near my house-I am so blessed to live near such beauty!)

Wow. Thanks once again for the donations!! I have raised more than half of what I am asking for and it feels great to know that I am supported by some many in this journey. It starts in Bilboa, Spain. (The image is the Guggenheim Museum.) I plan to go one day early to adjust a bit to the time change as well as take in some sights, etc. If you can't donate monetarily, does anyone have any flyer miles you'd be willing to donate? I am going to buy my ticket in the next few days and I just thought I would ask. Thanks!!!

Thanks Michael and Rainey for offering to buy me some new shoes for my pilgrimage. Michael is sponsoring the left foot and Rainey the right...or was it the other way around? (These are not my new shoes by the way, but I imagine they will look similar to these).

Wow! Thank you everyone for your donations to my self-care trip that is happening in about 10 weeks! I guess I better buy my plane ticket and get some shoes soon and start breaking them in. PS-I am not sure how and where this message goes. I hope it goes to all the ones who have donated to me. So much gratitude in my heart! Love, Beth
