Latest Update

5 weeks and 3 days to go! At 34 weeks and 5 days, Baby Gia is the size of a butternut squash. Our Dr recently weighed her in at exactly 4 lbs and 7 ounces and said she is on the "smaller side of average." We are counting the days until her arrival and couldn't be more excited!

Exactly 7 weeks and counting until Baby Gia's predicted due date. To date, she weighs approximately 4.19 pounds and is 17.2 inches long. Yesterday we transformed the house in Agoura into a pretty pink party palace for our last baby shower. So many friends came by to wish us well and we enjoyed a great taco bar and some games as well. Everyone's love and generousity continues to amaze us through this process and having so many loved ones drive from near and far to celebrate Baby Gia left us with full hearts. Thank you so much to my sister, Jamie, and my mom for planning and gifting us with such an incredible day 💕 On the agenda this week is installing our new infant car seat in JE's Jeep and packing our hospital bag (just in case Gia decides she doesn't want to wait until after the new year).

Yesterday marked 32 weeks and we celebrated with our friends and family on the Island. Our Catalina Baby Shower was beautiful. The venue was amazing, weather was warm and food was delicious. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. All of the generosity and love was overwhelming and we loved sharing in our excitement for Baby Gia's arrival. Personally, my favorite part of the whole day was watching the joy and giddiness of John-Eric as he opened the cute little onesies and dresses. His excitement about Gia's pink hair bows and ruffled tights will never get old and is one of the MANY reasons why I love him so much. Thank you so much to Juliet and Geoff Knowles for hosting such an special day! 💕

At 31 weeks, we are 8 weeks and 6 days away from meeting our baby girl! She is currently 16.1 inches long and weighs 3.31 pounds! Sleep is getting more difficult these days but the excitement of her arrival outweighs all of the uncomfortable symptoms. Did you know that at 31 weeks she is using all 5 senses and her eyes are now capable of reacting to light? This past week we celebrated Thanksgiving in Catalina with our families. We had a great time and can't wait for our upcoming baby showers! We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

That's Daddy right there, pouring over pictures of his little girl. Yesterday we had a series of doctor's appointments, all of which went well. Our first appointment was a 4d ultrasound with the fetal specialist, Dr. Nguyen who has been monitoring the baby's growth due to marginal cord insertion, which is a condition that sometimes limits nutrients and growth. Luckily, this isn't the case for Baby Hernandez! She is growing just fine, is strong, average size and weighs in at exactly 2.11 ounces, which is .3 ounces heavier than the average, according to thebump.com. Next, we saw our OBGyn, Dr. Sabnis, for a regular check up. She answered lots of our questions and then referred us upstairs for more, which included a vaccine, CBC bloodwork and the dreaded blood glucose test. Results came back this morning, all of which are normal. The best part of yesterday other than hearing that Baby Hernandez is healthy was being able to see her on the ultrasound screen. She sure is cute!!!

This weekend John-Eric turned 39 years old and Baby Hernandez is officially 2 months and 4 weeks away from her big debut! At 28 weeks, she is the size of an eggplant and measures in at 14.8 inches and 2.2 pounds. So far this third trimester can be described in one word: uncomfortable. It seems like my belly is getting bigger and bigger with each passing day. This week we have 2 dr's appointments, one with our OB and another with a specialist who is monitoring Baby's growth due to marginal cord insertion. If her kicks are any indication of her strength, I expect Dr. Nguyen to tell us that Baby Hernandez is growing just fine. Happy Birthday John-Eric!!

Happy Halloween! It's Halloween today which means we are officially 27 weeks and 1 day! Only 3 more months until we get to meet our little girl! We are so excited we can hardly stand it! Today we laid around ALL DAY watching scary movies and feeling the baby move around and kick. She was so active today and I'm convinced it's from all of the pumpkin pie and cookies. According to one of our pregnancy apps, she already has taste buds! She is also opening her eyes and is approximately 14.4 inches in length. On the way home from picking up pizza we realized this will be our last Halloween without our little girl. John-Eric is already planning out costumes for her for next year! We hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! 🎃👻🕷

Monday, October 24th: at 26 weeks and 1 day we attended a class called "Becoming a Parent." What a wonderful experience. We absolutely loved the instructor and were both engaged the entire 3 hours. The first half of class talked about what to expect from the baby for the first couple weeks after birth. We watched video and were instructed on the characteristics of a newborn including physical normalities vs abnormalities, along with behavioral traits & tips to calm a fussy baby. The second half of class dove into the emotional hardships of the first few weeks after birth. We discussed our views about certain topics and were instructed on effective ways to communicate with one another, especially when our patience becomes tested. I know there is no real preparation for exactly what lies ahead, but we both felt extremely lucky to experience this class as a couple and to make a commitment to one another to do our best at continual communication and support.

Our first baby shower! Last Friday, just 2 days shy of the 26 week mark I walked into the Los Alamitos Softball Team Room to dozens on pink streamers, balloons and girls shouting "Surprise!" I truly was completely surprised and taken aback at the planning, thoughtfulness, time and love that went into creating this special moment. The girls even made a sign and a diaper tower. The cake was delicious and the company was even better. I have to admit that I cried the instant I walked into the room. The support John-Eric and I have received throughout this journey has been overwhelming to say the least. We are reminded constantly how many special and loving people we are lucky enough to have in our lives. This was a very special day.

We've made it to 25 weeks! We're exactly 3 months and 2 weeks away from Baby Girl Hernandez' arrival and we couldn't be more excited! This past week we took our much needed and recommended "baby moon" and celebrated our 25 week mark with a real authentic luau. The trip has been everything we could have asked for and more. We relaxed our minds and our bodies and spent some one on one couple time rekindling our romance and reminding one another of our love and commitment to the journey we are on together. We swam, rested, explored and truly loved every minute of this amazing Baby Moon. I was most excited about the snorkeling and massive amounts of breakfast food we ate each day, and John-Eric seemed to be most excited about the snorkeling and electric, self cleaning toilet in our hotel bathroom. It's all about appreciating the little things in life :) We can't wait to go back with Baby Girl Hernandez some day. Aloha Kauai! Thank you for the memories 🌺

Tonight we had our first childbirth and Lamaze class. John-Eric was behind the camera in this photo...we're polar opposites when it comes to posing for pictures! Although we are delivering at Los Robles in Thousand Oaks, we signed up for several birth and baby related classes at Long Beach Memorial. John-Eric's enthusiasm and excitement never ceases to amaze me and I'm grateful every single day for his unwavering love and support through each step of this journey. The class was super informative and I can't complain that he massaged my back for at least an hour, even after the instructional massage part was over. We sat on yoga mats and practiced breathing and positioning techniques while also watching video of labor and delivery. John-Eric's first words when we left were, "I can't wait for her to get here!" Followed very shortly by, "Babe, that looks like it's really gonna hurt!" Thanks coach!

Baby Girl Hernandez is 23 weeks and 4 days. Only 3 months and 4 weeks left to go! She is healthy and active and Dr. Nguyen said that if we were to line up 100 babies by size, she would be baby number 55. She is almost exactly in the middle of the size scale. Her heartbeat is VERY strong and she loves to kick late at night. One of the most exciting things this week was when John-Eric felt her kick for the very first time!
