Hi, my name is Anita M. Johnson. I am the Founder and Executive Director of GEAR Inc. (Generations Empowered and Restored) Non-Profit in N.C. Our organization has formed to empower and restore children ages 0-18 of incarcerated individuals. Our mission is to encourage positive social interaction, facilitate communication with others, and provide a safe and trusting environment for these children. Our goal is to stabilize and support the children socially, emotionally, and academically to prevent future incarceration.
This mission is very dear to my heart as this is not only the story of many families in our country, state, city, county, and community but is my personal testimony. For almost 8 years of my daughter's life her father was incarcerated which left me to direct, discipline, and be the sole financial support for her. This is why GEAR exists, because I along with my team will do what we can to prevent inter-generational patterns for the children we help. G.E.A.R.'s platform is, as we help the children we help the guardian parent(s). We're on the move and we have passion that is ignited with love but we need you to help with our start-up efforts which includes office space, computers, program funding, and a college scholarship fund to name a few of our organizational aspirations. Generations Empowered and Restored Inc. Non-profit desires to see these young people succeed despite their circumstance.
