Hello!! My name is Betty and the nice animal control officers at East Ridge Animal Services are trying to help me get better and could really use your help!! You see I was hit by a car the other night and now I need a big surgery for my hip. At first they thought I had a broken pelvis, but when the emergency vet x-rayed my hip they discovered that it was only my right hip joint that was out of socket and I thankfully had no other injuries on the x-ray.
The vet told the ladies that I would require a surgery called FHO (femoral head osteotomy). They attempted to put me in a sling that night but my hip kept coming out of socket so the splint won't work. The FHO is my only option :-(
The nice vets at East Ridge Animal Hospital have looked at me and will be doing my surgery on Tuesday the 14th...not exactly how I wanted to spend my Valentine's Day but I can't wait to feel better soon!!
To make matters worse, they found out I'm heartworm positive when we got back to the shelter and I will need to also undergo treatment so that I can live a happy life after surgery. I'm sure the nice ladies will get this treatment started as soon as possible since I'm having surgery too.
Thankfully, there is a nice group of people called Friends of East Ridge Animal Services that has offered to help the ladies at the shelter by doing a fundraiser to help raise money for the costs of my hip surgery and heartworm treatment. Any money not used towards the costs of my hip surgery/heartworm treatment will be donated back to East Ridge Animal Services for use with other dogs or cats in need like myself. Thanks so much for taking time to read my story and for donating and/or sharing with your friends!!
If you prefer to mail a check or money order instead of donating online, then please make it out to Friends of East Ridge Animal Services. The mailing address is 1232A Greenslake Road, East Ridge, TN 37412.

You can drop your check by the shelter at 1015 Yale Street, East Ridge, TN 37412. Just remember to make it out to Friends of East Ridge Animal Services. Thanks again!!
