Fundaciòn Centro Cultural Guanin is a US registered non-profit organization that services a community in the Dominican Republic. Guanin is similar to a YMCA or Boys and Girls Club. The foundation is dedicated to developing social/cultural, educational, health, community development, and agricultural programs. They focus on their mission statement: “Education is the key to progress and success.”

Currently, we are looking to raise $5,000 to cover the transportation costs for getting children to and from the center. Allowing them to have access to a transformative learning curriculum and two meals a day. Check out our latest update to get more information on the situation. Feel free to reach out to me directly. - Ishmael Stinson email: Ishmael.Stinson@outlook.com

Latest Update

Wow! Huge thankyou to everyone who contributed as we exceeded our goal of 5000$ a whole month earlier then expected and are already pas the 6000$ mark. Really amazing work from everyone to band together and get these kids back to the community center the love. I (Ishmael Stinson) am currently working with the rest of the board of directors to get your funds to fixing the bus and getting the staff back on the road. Love is the answer to all!

I visited central Guanin in the first two weeks of November 2017. During my visit multiple buses (1 already under maintenance) had broken down. Though the maintenance was addressed quickly these costs consumed the last of the transportation budget that would usually cover free pick-ups and drop off's through the middle of 2018. This is a continued uphill battle as the rural, dirt, and limestone covered road is extremely harsh and constantly changing due to the annual rainy season. With 150+ children to pick up and drop off the costs comes to 5$ per child per month to cover driver's, gas, routine maintenance, and tire costs. Most families in the area make less then 3$ a day and I'm hoping you will join me in alleviating these costs for families looking to break free of the cycle of poverty.

  • Jade Weise6 years ago I’m in bed sick today missing work and was initially feeling bad about it like it’s the end of my world. Then I took a humbling moment to reflect on the fact that I should be thankful I even have a bed. Taking the opportunity to do something small and give back is helping me feel better than any other medicine. Although I do wish I could give more at this time... Keep up the amazing work! Children are humanity’s future, we must continue to nurture them, believe in them, and build them up.
