Friends, we have been called to serve as volunteer missionaries at Sonshine Hacienda in San Felipe, Baja Mexico. Sonshine Hacienda is a children's home whose mission is to provide a safe, positive, nurturing environment for children who are at risk because of neglect, abuse, abandonment or who are orphans. 100% of our expenses are our responsibility. We invite you to join us in this ministry by giving from your heart. Funds raised will help us with visa fees, border taxes, and travel expenses as we move to Baja in November. Funds raised that exceed these initial expenses will further our ministry while serving at the children's home.

Latest Update

Hi friends! Once again we wanted to thank you so much for your support! We're getting closer and closer to moving day and your donations are helping ease the stress of that move! If you'd like to learn more about Sonshine Hacienda, this is a great little video. Blessings! Randy & Katie https://youtu.be/gCoiDKpbYGs

Thank you to everyone who has asked if we have a GoFundMe account! We opted to use Plumfund, which serves the same purpose without all the fees so that your dollar goes further. Funds raised will help us move to Mexico in LESS THAN A MONTH! From visa fees to border taxes, double the expenses like car and health insurance in both the U.S. and in Mexico, your support will enable us to dedicate 100 percent of our time and energy to the work that God has called us to do. Being volunteers without any salary is a true leap of faith and we thank you for being part of God's plan!

Most students in Mexico do not go to school beyond the sixth grade, so it was cause for a major celebration when two of our kids started junior high this fall! Read more about the celebrations & changes at Sonshine Hacienda in our latest newsletter: http://eepurl.com/cgOpeD

God never ceases to amaze me! When we visited Sonshine Hacienda in August there were only 16 children living there. A full size school bus had just been donated and we were coming on as volunteer missionaries, both of which seemed a little unnecessary given the small number of children. But shortly after we left, Sonshine was notified that the government wanted to bring them as many as 30 new kids! God took care of the need for a bigger bus and additional staff even before Sonshine knew there was a need! We are so grateful that he chose to use us for this incredible work. Thank you so much for your support as we continue to say yes when he calls!

One of the questions we are regularly faced with is: what will you be doing at Sonshine Hacienda? And the challenge is we don’t really know! While visiting in August, Karen told us: You have to be ready to “punt” at all times. Randy calls it an “audible.” Whatever football terminology you want to use, the truth is every day will be different. Every day will have its own challenges and we will have to be ready to throw our plans out the window and go with the flow. Whether it is a staff member calling in sick or the kids coming home from school with lice, an appliance malfunctioning or new children arriving, an important piece of news that needs to go out immediately or new regulations that have to be followed, we must be adaptable. Basically, everything you would do as a homeowner, business owner, teacher, supervisor, team member, and parent (multiplied by 50 kids)! It’s a little overwhelming to think about, but we’re getting really excited to be on the ground in just two months!
