Help us take our first leap towards sustainability! We are outgrowing our space! This is phase 1 of a 3-phase project to expand Thai Village operations here in Northern Thailand. Phase 1 entails registering as a new local Thai foundation, legal counsel, and lots of paperwork. We are moving forward with this phase and need $8,080 by the end of the year to make it happen.

Our Thai Village operation center has continued to grow to its seams. While many places had to shut their doors in 2020, by God's grace our doors have remained open....and busier than ever. Our building has been bursting at the seams with COVID relief packages, vocational trainings, and income generation projects. 2020 has only confirmed our mission and intensified our vision for Thai Village:

To train and employ low-income people, support Christian outreach and education, and create opportunities to share God's love in community.

We envision local communities in Thailand filled with healthy, thriving people, living in shalom (where people love, respect, and honor God, each other and all of creation); where people have dignified work that glorifies God and income that provides enough for them to support their families; where the vulnerable and poor are protected, cared for, and advocated for by community members; where quality education in safe learning environments is valued and accessible; and where each person lives with hope in their heart knowing they are a precious child of God.

With years of prayer for next steps for Thai Village, we are taking a next step in what we see is a long term commitment to the people of Thailand. We are excited to announce that we are partnering with local leaders to establish our own Thai Village foundation in Thailand. What does this mean? We’re going to keep doing more of the same things we believe in. Working with local churches and local leaders to meet physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

We’ve never been an organization to do things in a hurry (except maybe hurry to finish orders before deadlines!), and we’re not rushing into this either. We ultimately made this big decision in 2020, a year when so much seemed uncertain and insecure in the world, when plans and decisions were harder than ever. While we see this as a big decision, more than that, it’s a big honor and blessing that God has allowed Thai Village to continue to grow for this many years. We know this is not about any one of us, and are ever reminded how much you, our team, are making this possible!

Latest Update

JOY & HOPE: We envision local communities in Thailand filled with healthy, thriving people, living in shalom (where people love, respect, and honor God, each other and all of creation); where people have dignified work and income that provides enough for them to support their families; where the vulnerable and poor are protected, cared for, and advocated for by community members; where quality education in safe learning environments is valued and accessible; and where each person lives with hope in their heart knowing they are a precious child of God.

EDUCATION: Why are we expanding? We support formal and informal education opportunities for local people to grow in their faith as well as access to higher education. As a foundation, we will be able to give more educational scholarships and fund Biblical training in the communities we serve.

COMMUNITY: Why are we expanding? If this year has shown us anything, it is the power and need for community. We want to commit to being a long-term part of the community and building community through visiting homes, praying for artisans, hosting events, partnering with local government and school channels, and responding to the needs of our neighbors.

OUTREACH: Why are we expanding? Our Thai Village operation center has continued to grow to its seams. While many places had to shut their doors in 2020, by God's grace our doors have remained open....and busier than ever. Our building has been bursting at the seams with COVID relief packages, vocational trainings, and income generation projects. These are part of our informal outreach to meet physical needs partnered with the local church to meet spiritual needs. As a foundation, we will be able to expand our space, longevity, and capacity for outreach in the community.

FAMILIES: Why are we expanding? This week alone we have seen a wedding, 2 funerals, and a hospital visit for the artisans in our community. We believe in supporting and strengthening families, especially as hard things continue to happen in this world. Our desire is for people to be able to emotionally support one another as well as financially support themselves. Some ways we do this is by providing things like compensated leave time for our workers and seminars for marriage, children, emotional resiliency, and financial planning partnered with the local church. As a foundation we will be able to have more space to host seminars and training events and pour into the strengthening of families.

We believe in giving jobs, not handouts; in providing training, not in doing it for someone else. This is the way to build long-lasting and sustainable change. It takes a little bit longer to train someone, but it's worth the time! By giving to Thai Village this #givingtuesday you are giving towards providing training and income generation to those in need! You are investing in the lives of others. Thank you!
