On February 23, 2019, family and friends will be hosting TooleFest 2. A Fun-raiser to support Matt Toole. Matt and Karen are Elmhurst residents and have two children at York High School - Regan (junior) and Paddy (sophomore). Matt has been heroically battling ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gherig's disease for over 9 years. Matt's actually beating the odds. Lou Gherig made his "Luckiest Man Alive Speech" on July 4, 1939, and today there's still no treatment or cure for ALS and it's typically fatal in 2-5 years. Matt's been amazing through it all. He has the most positive attitude, amazing faith and will not give up. Prayers and the love and support from the Elmhurst Community keep Matt strong. They take things day by day and look at each day as a gift.
Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to support Matt & Karen. They have faced this disease with courage, grace and an amazing attitude. Through their example, they have inspired us all who know & love them.
All funds raised will be used to defray the expenses the Toole's have incurred and will continue to incur, for out-of-pocket medical and prescription costs, necessary medical equipment costs and for full-time caregiver to perform everyday activities of daily living for Matt.
In order to accomplish this goal, we are requesting donations for the silent auction and raffle that will be held during our Fun-Raiser event on February 23, 2019 in Visitation's gym.
On behalf of Matt, Karen, and their kids, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, concern, compassion and support during this period of great need.
