Started by: Ron Fisher
On June 1st, FRNCA's president Ron Fisher received an e-mail from a member of the community that wishes to remain anonymous. This resident shared their appreciation for all of the hard work that the civics are doing to enhance the beauty of the 3 western hamlets, and noted many significant positive changes that they have seen over the past year. This resident explained that they are unable to attend regular meetings, but is able to contribute financially to the association, which will go very far in supporting the good work that FRNCA is doing. What the anonymous donor requested is that FRNCA set up a crowd funding campaign in which the community can raise funds from within, and this donor will match dollar for dollar what residents raise up to $2,000.00!!!
In the past year our civics worked together to:
Build the largest holiday light display ever at the intersection of Flanders Rd & Route 105.
Expand on the Community Garden at the Crohan Center that stocks local food pantries and lunch programs.
Brought Sponsor a Highway to Flanders Road, addressing the litter issue without raising taxes.
Installed nearly a dozen no parking signs on Flanders Rd in front of delis where tractor trailers regularly parked, blocking visibility and creating dangerous situations.
Hung American Flags down Long Neck Boulevard.
Started a Yard of the Month contest.
Awarded $2,500.00 in scholarships to local students attending college.
Advocated successfully for significant additional police presence.
Provided over 50 pairs of shoes to children in need at the Elementary School at Christmas.
Delivered hundreds of dollars worth of school supplies to Phillips Avenue Elementary School.
There are countless others too varied to name, these are just the highlights.
With the significant boost to FRNCA's budget, we can finally bring a Carnival to Flanders, and begin what will be a yearly event for our community to take pride in.
