Christina Martinez is a proud and loving mother and survivor of domestic violence. As a very young woman, Christina was criminalized and sentenced to life without parole as a result of her abuser’s lethal violence. Despite the horror of incarceration, including separation from her adored three children, Christina’s positivity, focus, talent, spiritual devotion, and family sustained her throughout her time inside.
After a successful defense campaign that led to her commutation and parole, Christina recently gained her freedom and was released on parole very rapidly in February 2021. However, the economic and other challenges of re-entry have been compounded by the lingering effects of the pandemic, and Christina needs support as she works to build her life anew.
Join Survived and Punished as we gather resources to support Christina as she rejoins her family and welcoming community.
