Since 2009, the educational nonprofit Red Sweater Project has been a cornerstone of Moondance Adventures' Kilimanjaro trip. Red Sweater Project establishes and operates high schools in rural areas of Tanzania where over 90% of children don’t have a high school education.

Red Sweater Project established the Mungere School in 2012 outside of the rural village of Mto Wa Mbu. Since, Moondance and Mungere students have been breaking down cultural and language barriers by working, playing, laughing, and learning alongside each other. Without fail, Mungere students end up teaching Moondancers valuable life lessons. lessons. Here are a few things Moondance students have said about their experience at the Mungere School:

“My big take-away was how happy Mungere students are with how little they have. They have such a beautiful outlook on life. I learned that you can find happiness out of absolutely nothing. It’s all about relationships.”

“I was impressed with the selfless attitude that all the kids had. When we started working in the garden, they were immediately working right next to us, offering to do the work for me. They always want to be helping us even though we’re technically there to help them. They are impacting me more than I have impacted them.”

Currently, the Mungere School educates approximately 150 students. When construction and development on the Mungere campus is completed, the total student body will increase to 300. Over the years, Moondance has helped Red Sweater Project expand and improve the Mungere campus. Now we are asking you to help us make the next big improvement. Red Sweater Project and Moondance Adventures are partnering to raise funds to construct and furnish the new Moondance Live in the Moment Library with all the resources and technology to maximize this incredible learning opportunity for the students of the Mungere School. This important project will help students prepare to pass their national exams and follow a path out of poverty. Help us continue the adventure!

For a limited time, maximize your impact by making a gift of any amount to help end poverty in Tanzania. In honor of our 10-year partnership, every donation you make will be matched dollar for dollar by Moondance Adventures, up to $10,000!

Red Sweater Project is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue code and gifts are tax-deductible; Tax Identification Number (EIN) #27-52222528.
