It was a dream of Alan’s to drive fast ever since he went to the stock car races with his dad and grandpa at the county fair. Now, a dad and grandpa himself, he is finally realizing that dream. He races IMCA compact cars at several tracks in Minnesota. It is really a family affair – from his 80+-year-old mom in the cheering section to his 2-7&8-year-old grandsons and 11yr old granddaughter racing karts.

Family and friends were shocked to see these posts on Facebook:

"ALL LOCAL FRIENDS BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR MY 2005 SUBURBAN THAT I USE TO PULL MY RACE CAR TRAILER! IT WAS STOLEN SOMETIME LAST NIGHT AFTER MIDNIGHT! IT HAD ALL MY SAFETY EQUIPMENT, TOOLS AND SPARE PARTS IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"Breaking news! I am offering a $500.00 reward to whomever finds my Suburban! That's all I can afford, already spent over $1,000.00 replacing the essential stuff I need to race this weekend!"

His fiancé, Meri Beth posted later:

"Still no word from the police on our suburban. Every corn field/bean field we drive buy we search without even realizing it. All the things we had in there gone. Memorabilia is real hard. Track championship jackets from past years etc. Alan is beside himself that someone has done this."

The silver lining of this dark cloud is the immediate outpouring of offers to help! Some offered safety gear, others vehicles to tow his car and others just offered support. What a great community of caring people he has around him!

The following Saturday he raced and posted this note:

"So first off, I would like to thank everyone that offered to help out after my bad luck this week. It really shows how much we support each other and stick together. There are fellow racers and fans all over the state looking for my Suburban, tools and racing stuff. 2nd, Winner winner Chicken dinner! Clean sweep last night. I had my car set up just right. 3rd thank you Voss family for the extra pay last night. I need every cent I can get! After the week I have had I needed a night like this!! Thanks again everyone!"

Let’s continue to help him by donating to cover the following costs:

Safety gear replacement

Tools for his race car and grandkids racing karts

Jack stands and jack, air compressor Battery charger, wheels and gas can

Spare parts

Vehicle to replace Suburban

Reward money

Let’s set a goal of $10,000 to help get him back on the track!
