I'm partnering up with the band programs at Richfield High School in my third year of scholarship campaigning! I'm very excited to be able to reach more students and work with them in their band environment.

Here's an overview of what I can achieve with these funds:

-Provide private lessons for the low brass students enrolled in middle and high school bands in their school environment- no need for travel to my studio!

-Offer coaching opportunities for the larger brass section

-Create chamber and choir groups

We're going to work with my time availability and the students in order to find the best combination of instruction for the Richfield students.

Any amount you can give is appreciated. Thanks for making musical opportunities more accessible to all students!

Latest Update

Lessons at Richfield are really getting going! Here are some highlights from recent lessons: -Taught a lesson in my limited Spanish, but luckily music can be communicated through itself! David is a bright young player and learned 2 tunes in 30 minutes! -Adam learned that giving space for his ribs to expand with his lungs can really help with sound production. He was so amazed he asked if he could keep trying the same exercise. -Youssef got a crash course in how his bass trombone's second valve functions, and learned to play all the notes below the staff down to pedal Bb. He was so excited he gave his trombone a hug. Loving these kids and their enthusiasm for learning. Thank you again for your support of low brass instruction at Richfield!

1 month to go on my campaign to bring low brass private music instruction to Richfield High School! Your donation helps me provide weekly individualized instruction, along with clinics and coaching, to kids who couldn't otherwise afford it. We meet in band class, no transportation needed, and I offer all materials that I teach free of charge. I want to share something Jennifer S said in her donation note: "$60 is the cost of a single private lesson at the school where I studied violin. I hope that as the years go by I can contribute the equivalent of two or three!" For a single lesson at Richfield I am only 'paying' myself $20 from this fundraiser. So you really did gift three lessons, Jennifer! Help me get to my next goal, 50% or $1750, this week!

My first day with Richfield band kids! We did a clinic on healthy air and embouchure function and learned how to play "Saints Go Marching" by ear. My campaign stands at about 2 months worth of lessons/clinics/coachings right now- help me expand my reach and make it through the whole school year!

Yesterday I met up with Elizabeth Winslow, the band director at Richfield, and toured her facilities as well as talked through the plan for the semester. We're going to dive right in- my first clinic with students will be Wednesday, Sept 6th! I'll be meeting with all the brass, introducing myself and my teaching pedagogy, and getting to know this really great group of kids. Thank you if you have supported, and please keep sharing and encouraging others to check out my campaign. <3, Lauren
