Hi, my name is Mark, and I am the very proud dad of two boys. I have raised them by myself, and I have always provided for them the best I could. We never lived rich, but we always had enough.
In September of 2015 I got laid off from my job, and have been struggling to find a replacement. I work in IT, but I would do anything just so I could support my kids. I have applied to every conceivable place, including fast food and convenience stores, and I have had bites, but ultimately no job. I was able to get unemployment, but that ran out in March 2016. Since then, I have managed to find odd jobs, but it is not much and not consistent.
In Thanksgiving 2016 I ended up in the hospital, resulting in gall bladder surgery. In Christmas 2016, I lost my car, as I was unable to make the payments for three months – the money had to go toward to utilities and groceries.
In May 2017 what little money I had left ran out, and we now have no electricity, no gas, and no water in the house.
Groceries have come by a few who have tried to help. We live too far from a food bank to walk, but I go when I can get together the bus fare. I have been able to apply for food stamps, and they said I should receive some funds by the end of this month.
I have reached a desperate point. I have never asked for or taken any help any time I have struggled. But when I lost the job, then the car, then the utilities, then the groceries, I hit bottom.
All I ever wanted was to be a good Dad. I told myself this would never happen, that I would not let it happen. But it has, and I don’t know how to fix it. I need help, and I don’t know where to go or who to turn to.
I need a job. I need to be able to turn the utilities back on and feed my boys.
*We are asking for help, and would be very grateful for any funds offered. We need a solid, stable home. PLEASE HELP GET ME BACK ON MY FEET.
