World renowned Chef and chocolatier(“Chef Ken”) Wilkinson
in January 11, 2016, fell from an A frame ladder in our garage causing a concussion, fractured face and broken ribs which resulted in a severe brain injury and underwent immediate surgery. We were in an institution for 14 months and in 6 different cities until he was finally released 4/1/17. My beloved father and Ken’s father-in-law passed away one month and 11 days after my husband’s Injury. My dad was 20 years retired Navy man and was a disabled VETERAN . I made the choice to move my husband to my hometown of Waco, TX and we live in my mothers home which is handicapped accessible until we can get our own home so my husband can function on a daily basis. He has gone through years of therapy achieving a partial recovery. I’ve spoken to a TBI survivor Paul G Bosworth of the Brain injury Advisory Council who has had incredible results from Hyperbaric therapy. Chef Ken would need 50 session or more at a cost of $150-170 per session, not including private caregivers and supplies etc for his daily care to continue getting him better. We hope his colleagues in the culinary world, fans, friends and wonderful community will help us by donating to get him the continued healing and give him every opportunity he needs to be successful in this TBI journey. There is no specific time frame or prognosis for a brain injury warrior/survivor with their recovery. It has been 31 months thus far and we are told it could take many more years to recover. We have faith in god that he will be back physically and mentally to function in the world he was used to and loved.
Ken and his wife Jacqueline need your financial support as Ken will once again need to employ the willpower and determination he used to earn his incredible career as an phenomenal Chef and world class Chocolatier as he open Cocoamoda Chocolates Boutique in September of 2008 in the little town of Calvert, TX. His wife is continuing his legacy and running the gourmet chocolate business on her own in Waco, TX. Chef Ken was been written about in over 100 articles including making the front page of the New York Times. Ken works hard every day to gain back his strength and ability to perform the everyday tasks we all take for GRANTED.
Please consider donating to Chef Ken and his wife Jacqueline as they continue this new journey together. #teamchefken #tbiawareness #tbiwarrior #trueloveconquersall #havingfaithingodsplan
