Hi Friends & Family,
As some of you know Michael and his wife, Shaina, moved to Germany (from Wisconsin) this past October to live abroad.
Michael had been working from home on his computer as their source of income while in Germany. While Shaina and their friend Ross took turns helping Michael with personal care assistance due to his form of Muscular Dystrophy (as their unpaid job).
In late November, Michael stopped breathing. He was resuscitated, rushed to the ICU, and put in a medically-induced coma for a little while. They took him off the medicine for the coma and slowly... he woke up! He was on a ventilator to help him breathe. They transferred him to another hospital that had a good pulmonary department. They took out the tube and he was able to breathe on his own for a brief time. Each day he continued gaining strength in his diaphragm. With each day or so that passed, he was more than doubling the time off the bipap machine breathing on his own. He was starting to talk again. He was starting to laugh and smile. He got up to the point where he was only on the bipap machine during the night. His recovery is quite miraculous.
Then one day he passed a lot of blood due to an ulcer that ruptured. (probably from the blood thinners) He was transferred to another hospital where they had to put him back on the ventilator and did three gastroscopies to fix the bleeding. He was transferred back to hospital #2. He restarted the process of being weaned off the ventilator and back onto the bipap machine. They found more blood. Underwent another gastroscopy. He is actively bleeding still. Thank God for blood donors. He is currently back at hospital #3, sedated, back on ventilator, and will undergo an angiogram and procedure tomorrow to help pin point where the bleeding is coming from. Please pray safety over Michael and wisdom for the doctors and nurses.
I am asking for you to stand with us and pray that Michael's body would be restored with strength, abounding joy, and the perfect peace of Jesus Christ. If you are able, please consider donating something to Michael's fund as I know it would be an immense blessing and answer to prayer.
Thank you,
Michelle
P.S. If you would like to follow Michael's journey, his wife has started a Caring Bridge site to keep everyone updated: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/michaelbeil
