The past 3 years in a nutshell: Peterbilt ran me bankrupt with breakdowns, my heart tried to kill my countless times over the past 18 months (causing at least 6 months of lost work), Hurricane Michael made a visit, which leads us up to now.
Our landlord has decided to not repair the house. "I'm sorry, but you have to find a new place to live."
After being off 3 months before my surgery, then 2 weeks after, we were finally getting back on track. The bills were all caught up with, except for one, and that was to be paid last Saturday. We lost all of the perishable groceries and have been without power for a week. Our water comes from a well, so guess what? You got it. No water either. A friend loaned us a generator, but it's hard on gas (about 10 gallons per day). We can't afford an extra $27 per day, so the generator is used a few minutes a day to fill water jugs & run the microwave. Most of our cooking is done on a propane camp stove. Because of the heat here, we were basically forced into sleeping in a tent in the front yard. Oh, did I mention that 2 bedrooms were completely destroyed? The dogs are suffering, too, because of zero airflow & a huge portion of the fence was flattened. It's hardest on Goober, our 11 year old lab. Hell, he had air conditioning in his bedroom while we didn't.
We've found a few places somewhat nearby, but don't have the money for the first months rent & security deposit, not to mention the gas money for back & forth trips during the move.
That's what this fundraiser is for - to get into a new home. Please, if you can help...
