Hi everyone. I am not one to ask this type of thing, but I figured I would try to ask for help. I am currently a President's List recognized senior at North Carolina Wesleyan College and I am trying to fulfill my life long dream of being a teacher. In order for me to start my student teaching in January of 2019, I have to pass the Pearson test which involves three different sub-tests of reading, math and multi-subject. These tests are not easy at all and I have been recommended to attend three workshops in October of this year that will assist with me passing these tests. The director of my Elementary Education Program advised that most students who take the Pearson test within 30 days of attending these workshops end up passing the Pearson on the first try. Unfortunately, I am at a stand still with my finances. I am a waitress at a local restaurant, a mother to two amazing young boys, and wife of a man who was injured while on duty at a jail. At this point in my life, the income that we accumulate goes to bills and food, and we do not have the extra money to send me to these classes that are two hours away.
I will be using the money for the three classes that are all day classes (Friday-Sunday), food for the weekend, gas, and a hotel.
The Classes are all day October 5th-7th.
Each class I take is $150.00, so the total just for the three classes would be $450.00.
The hotel I chose, which is Comfort Inn, is about $300 for Thursday-Sunday. Depending on the amount of money I raise I will try to get the hotel the workshops are taking place in. The total for that hotel is $500.00.
Classes: 450.00
Hotel: 300-500 (depending on funds)
Gas: 60-80
Food: Whatever is left over
I appreciate anything that is given and if you are not able to help, I completely understand. Times are tough, I know. I would appreciate everyone sharing this.
