Daniel has the opportunity to attend "Winter Congress" in Washington D.C. with Junior Statesmen of America (JSA)! This is an exciting opportunity which simulates a typical session of the U.S. Congress. Over 1,000 students participate in this event. This year Daniel prepared a "Territorial Rights Amendment". I am so proud of Daniel and want to make sure he has full access to this and other exciting opportunities that may come his way. Please help us fund this exciting opportunity. Thank you!

Latest Update

Daniel and his new friends from JSA Virgin Islands had a fantastic trip! He returned home excited about the opportunity. There are so many stories to tell, that I think he'll still be telling them for a long time to come. So glad he had a chance to participate.

Final Day! Time to debate. Daniel and Crystal, his teammate, clearly did an excellent job debating - The Territorial Rights Amendment passed! A great experience. Now wouldn't it be awesome if Congress paid attention to what these kids are doing? Intelligent and respectful discussions over some very serious topics. It can be done! Thank you for your support!

I don't know how legible it is, but this is Daniel's Territorial Rights Amendment.

So, on Saturday things really got started. The exciting news was that Daniel's 'Territorial Rights Amendment' accepted by the convention! Yes! I was so proud when I got the news! What this means is that the bill gets presented to several groups. Daniel teamed up with another person from his group for this. They present the bill, answer questions, etc. What was even more exciting at the end of the day, is that Daniel's Bill passed the first session! On to the final day.

After Thursday's continuous stream of activities, Friday looked really light - on paper. Daniel and his group visited both Howard and American University. All in all they walked 6.4 miles! Not bad. Opening night of Mock Congress was also on Friday. After an inspiring opening, the group sat and prepared for the weekend sessions.

What a great experience this has been! Daniel, with his JSA group, started their trip with a visit to the Holocaust Museum. Afterwards the group headed to Capitol Hill where they first visited the offices of VI delegate to Congress, Stacey Plaskett, where they met with her Chief of Staff, Legal Counsel, and her legislative director. They discussed the Congresswomans legislative priorities for this term among other issues. They then visited the office of Congressman and Civil Rights icon, John Lewis. Next Daniel's group headed to the offices of SKD Knickerbocker, a leading public relations and political affairs firm and met with Adam Hodge - a native of St. Croix. They even managed a visit to the Smithsonian National Museum of African History and Culture. That was all Thursday!
