My Sister, her Husband and her 5 small children were abruptly woken in the middle of the night to flee from their suburban Santa Rosa home grabbing only a few items as they rushed out the door. Outside, a raging brush fire enveloped their neighborhood.

They were miraculously able to make it to safety after finding it difficult to escape the fire that grew from 200 ac to 20,000 ac in a matter of hours due to 50mph winds. However, their home and their neighborhood have been destroyed. This young family who homeschool their children ages 7, 5 (twins), 3 and 1 have lost all of their belongings and their school.

Please consider contributing to help them get past the next couple of months while damages and insurance can be assessed.

May God bless you in your charity.

Latest Update

Molly and Joe have returned to Santa Rosa and are temporarily staying in a home graciously gifted to them by a friend for a couple of weeks. They are navigating the insurance details and starting down the path of putting their life back together. Thank you thank you to EVERYONE for such INCREDIBLE generosity. Your prayers and love have done so much good for this family and for others. Please continue to keep them in your prayers as they transition to a longer term rental in a couple of weeks where they hope to rent furniture for the short term. This is a picture of them enjoying the pumpkin patch and some much needed stress-free family time :) The kids look forward to wearing their new gifted costumes this Halloween. May God bless you all!

Many of you have asked how they are doing. They are staying with our Aunt and Uncle (Beth and Beejhan Afsari), who have completely opened their life to share their home with this large family. Our beloved Deirdre Hawkins at the Hawkins School of Performing Arts has gifted them dance therapy lessons and new outfits/shoes for Molly and the kids – a perfect distraction and inside activity to engage their minds and let them breath. Yesterday, at lunch, the Brookfields in Rancho Cordova heard about what had happened and took care of their meal as well as offered them a $100 gift certificate to their restaurant. Those that waited on them were so sweet and caring it brought them to tears. As Joe returns to work this week, because of the beautiful donations, he is bringing a truckload of items to others in need. Thank you, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for being with us. Please continue to keep them, and others facing the threat of the fires in your prayers.

One week since the harrowing escape, Molly and her family are feeling incredibly blessed today. To be alive - to have SO MANY incredible people in their (our) lives who have reached out with prayers, financial gifts, gifts of clothes, toys, school supplies and other thoughtful things such as hand-made quilts from a quilting group (they are gorgeous), and family pictures framed. We have received so many gifts from friends of friends, mother’s groups, homeschooling groups both near and far. The generosity from you all has moved everyone to tears several times a day. Our lives have forever been touched by the generosity of our family and friends who have helped and shared their story. Thank you for the incredibly thoughtful offers we received to open your own homes to strangers. Molly’s neighbor has found a place to stay.

Along the lines of helping others - Molly learned today that their neighbor (family of 6) who was equally devastated by the fire are still in the area and struggling to find hotel rooms available for temporary shelter. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers. If anyone knows of someone who might have a rental property, a trailer, in-laws quarters or spare room who would be open to taking these people in, we know they would be incredibly grateful. They are willing to travel long distances for any space someone can provide. Please message me to get in contact with them. Thank you so very much!

My name is Barb DiRegolo; I am a friend of Molly's mom Anne Rumery. We live in Fair Oaks ( suburb of Sacramento). I have plenty of room for this family if they still need a place to stay and are willing to drive this far. I have two spare room and an RV on our property. Disclaimer: we have dogs...5 dogs!! Not sure if that is acceptable for them but if it is they are more than welcome!

The past two days have been a humbling lesson on human kindness and the goodness of our Lord. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the number of people who have reached out to support Molly and her family during this time of need. This is a picture of just one of several very generous gifts her family received; suit cases to help them hold the beautiful donations people have offered. We all want to thank everyone from the depths of our hearts for supporting Molly and her family. Today several people dropped off much needed items and are doing well. She wished she could hug and personally thank each person who has contributed and prayed for them. We are now organizing any extras to bring back to Santa Rosa for other families in need. Right now, that is our focus - to help support the larger community that is hurting so much. The financial donations are so welcome, and anything that Molly's family does not really need, they plan on donating to others. God bless you.
