June 28, 2017 - NEW UPDATE
Gentlemen,
If you have not already heard the news, we are proud to announce that Gamma Xi of Pi Kappa Alpha is once again a fully recognized fraternity chapter by Washington State University and the school's Inter-fraternity Council.
As we have been telling you for the past couple of years, the undergraduates, with support from a committed alumni group, have worked through an aggressive set of goals and objectives as well as the requirements set forth by the university's Center for Fraternity and Sorority Life and the Office of Student Affairs. The successful unanimous vote by the IFC took place in late April and formal notice of re-recognition was received from the university in early June.
The men of Gamma Xi are a group you can be proud of and who have committed themselves to improving chapter operations and restoring its reputation.
The Pi Kap Building Association expects 37 men to live-in the house this fall and the chapter is currently recruiting potential new members and will be a full participant in WSU's formal rush in August.
Your contributions through this site helped to fund some basic improvements to the chapter house and its shared living spaces.....Thank you! The building association, Alumni Advisory Board and the Gamma Xi Alumni Association continue to work in unison to execute on further improvements to the property.
The financial situation of the chapter has stabilized, however, we are still lacking the funds necessary to make many needed improvements after too many years of neglect. The following items have been budgeted for this summer: (i) Repair of the furnace and damaged radiators; (ii) Drywall repairs throughout the chapter house; (iii) installation of combination door locks in roughly half of the member rooms; (iv) conversion of the closed chapter room to an open chapter room that also functions as an all-house TV and meeting room. A group of undergrad's are at the chapter house this week working under the leadership of one of our fellow alums cleaning the building, the yard and making a number of repairs.
The building association is currently seeking a donations for additional work at the house. Cement work to repair leaks to the foundation as well as new siding and exterior paint are needed. Additionally, re-finance alternatives are being explored. However, that is proving to be a challenge.
We are now asking that you consider making additional contributions towards these new projects. Undergraduate effort and alumni oversight are both strong at this time and we will continue to report back to you with progress.
Help us keep the momentum going.
Thank you for your consideration.
