Hello, friends and fans of Sara Van Buskirk! As you know, Sara is one of the most talented and soulful singer songwriters from Houston, Texas. Surprisingly, she has had the same lower-end Ibanez guitar ever since I've known her (circa 2006), and I believe it was given to her many years before that by the church she grew up playing music in. The purple Ibanez is pretty, but it is not the best quality guitar and was likely purchased for $200 to $300 (which is not much if you know your guitars). It does not have great tone, projection, or the action that a musician of Sara’s caliber should play (it makes her hands hurt). It falls out of tune easily too! Sara’s voice is a classy Rolls Royce and her guitar is basically a used Ford Fiesta. A couple of years ago, she had finally saved up enough money to buy the guitar of her dreams (an older Gibson acoustic), but then she went through some very hard times and a divorce that took away just about everything she had worked for. She is just now starting to get back on her feet financially, but I know that it will take her another year or three to save up enough money to buy that guitar.
In the mean time, she has gotten back into loving and playing music often again, and she needs a decent guitar! Will you please help me surprise Sara with the best Christmas gift we could ever give her - enough money to purchase the wonderful guitar that she needs and deserves? No donation is too small. If you guys can help me out with this, I (and especially Sara) will be eternally grateful! The music we make will also sound better for your listening pleasure!
With much love and gratitude,
Val Young (cellist lucky enough to get to play beside Sara)
