Hi everyone!
Graduation is here and graduation is expensive. In lieu of traditional gifts, I have set up this fund. There isn't any particular goal but money from this would be going towards moving costs(rent, furniture, groceries) as Dae and I will be starting with very little. Should you want to, great! If not, no worries. I appreciate your love and support all the same.
A little about my time in college and my future plans!
While in college, I experienced so many blessings and changes. From working with the RISE program at Coastal Carolina University (a housing program that specializes in the SAFE zone initiative), to working through three major research projects, my time in college has focused on creative development, activism, and research.
Research topics have included looking at rates of depression and anger management based upon levels of helicopter parenting, investigating development of emerging adulthood based on demographics and economic status, and finally measuring risk-taking behaviors based upon levels of stress and discrimination.
(On an emotional note)Throughout my time at Coastal Carolina University, I discovered the importance of not just being yourself but owning who you are. A phrase I keep close to my heart is "don't just be with people who tolerate you; be with people who celebrate you." Friends can become family, and family can become strangers. What matters most is to be challenged, be happy, and be true to yourself.
I accepted a job offer from The Carolina Center for Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism Treatment where I will be working as a Registered Behavior Technician, on route to becoming a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and finally working towards a PhD in Behavior Analysis. This job involves working one-on-one and in classroom settings with children on the autistic spectrum. I'm so excited to be able to work in a place where I will be making a difference in someone's life!
Thank you to everyone who helped me in getting this degree, both with monetary help and by providing a support system. I definitely couldn't have gotten through this without you.
