Dave Lundeen, respectively known for his toughness on the ice, is now facing his toughest battle off the ice. For the past year Dave has been battling esophageal cancer. He has undergone surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation and has endured months at a time in the hospital.
Many of you know Dave Lundeen, so he needs no introduction. For those of you who don’t, here is his story…
A Minnesota native, most will remember Dave as the University of Wisconsin the Badger forward who wore #22 for the red and white under Coach Bob Johnson. Johnson referred to Dave as “a tough competitor”. He is 7th on the Badgers list of penalty leaders with 304 minutes. From 1975-1977 he led the team in penalties.
Not only was Dave a fierce competitor, he was a skilled forward. Overall he played in 141 games, scored 60 goals and had 81 assists. He served as Alternate Captain in the 1975-76 season.
Dave was a member of the 1976-1977 team that to this day holds the best record in Wisconsin hockey history (37-7-1). He helped lead the team to a NCAA Championship that year.
Following 3 years in the Eastern Hockey League after college, Dave settled in Madison. His bar, Lundeen’s Off The Square, was legendary in the 1980’s!
Dave now resides in McFarland, WI just outside of Madison with his son Andrew. With the support of family and friends, Dave and Andrew have been a strong team in their fight against this aggressive cancer.
This fund has been created so you can help Dave and his family in his quest for a return to good health. Dave continues to fight this with on-going radiation and chemotherapy. Funds will help support these efforts that include uncovered medical bills and daily living costs. Dave and Andrew appreciate your support at this challenging time in their lives. Any donation you make is appreciated!
