As many of you have heard, yesterday (11/27/18) Pat was involved in a freak accident. He had pulled over to the emergency lane, along side the 55 freeway, where he exited his vehicle. While standing beside it, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle who was going full speed. He was rushed to the hospital where they continue to monitor him in ICU. As of this moment, he has been put into a medically induced coma as he has bleeding, swelling and contusions on the right side of his brain. He lost a lot of blood due to the injuries sustained to his right arm, as it was severely mangled, broken, with holes in his tendons. Because of the holes in his tendons and the blood loss, he received blood transfusions. His right hand is broken, and his right shoulder was dislocated. He also has a possible broken right leg, currently awaiting the results. He had a CT Scan last night at 8:30, and the results were no change from the one he had earlier in the day. This is good that there is no additional swelling or bleeding, but could also be bad that there are no changes. He had another CT Scan this morning at 5 am, and we are still awaiting the results. Getting the result of the 5am CT Scan is taking longer than the others, so its cause for concern. This will be a long road to recovery with a strong need for rehabilitation and therapy. He will not be able to work, and this will financially strap him. It appears the lady that hit him, did have insurance, however it could take years before he is able to settle on any type of a lawsuit, which will not help his immediate financial situation. We are reaching out to our sphere of support and hope you will share this among your friends and family. Lets help Pat get through this without the stress of the financials.

Local friends and family, Our friend Beau will be in communication about a possible Poker Tourny Fundraiser, at his place of residence.

Latest Update

Pat was brought home January 3rd, 2019, so he could be more comfortable. His disorientation was still at a high, and his care required the need of a daily caretaker. This caretaker arrives at his home, takes care of his needs, and brings him to and from his therapy appointments. His therapy is an all day event, and often grueling physically and mentally. He receives therapy on walking, the use of his hand, his arm and his shoulder, as well as his brain due to the trauma sustained. He is often wore out by the time he comes home, but he is making huge strides. Getting better daily. The mobility of his leg, hand, and shoulder is improving. His disorientation is less now, although he still does not remember certain parts of the accident. He is getting better!! He is getting out of the house here and there, with family, for some normalcy. We are so very glad he is still with us in this life!

Family and Friends! Pat is healing and getting better day by day. He was fighting an infection in his arm and was finally able to get it closed up. They also put a plate and 2 screws in his ankle. He starts physical therapy any day. He is still having memory issues due to his brain injury. Because Pat has good days and bad days, it’s best to contact Sabrina directly if you would like to visit. She will let you know what times are good. Sabrina thanks everyone for ur well wishes and understanding.

Pat is “awake” but sedated. He continues to be monitored around the clock. His whole right side of his body was badly injured and needs to heal. He is in a lot of pain. Due to the type of brain injury he has sustained, he does get agitated easily, and his memory is not 100%, as to be expected... but his funny personality comes through hear and there, which gives us all hope. It is STILL A DAY TO DAY! He is still very much in critical condition, so it is still not the time to be inundated with visitors.

Thanks for the update. Will continue to pray for a full recovery.

Friends and Family of Patrick Bowling. On behalf of Sabrina, Pat and his family, We graciously ask that u refrain from visiting him at the hospital for now. He is still in critical condition and although we very much appreciate ur being supportive of him, its a crucial time for his recovery. They prefer we wait until he is out of ICU and when he is responsive. I will notify u through my updates. Thank u for understanding.

Praying for a speedy recovery.

Family and Friends of Pat... Sabrina is exhausted and very much appreciates your understanding that she is solely focusing on Pats recovery. There is a lot to it, its physically and emotionally draining. Please give her space and know she will reach out when she needs something. There is no real update except that his broken arm was repaired this afternoon. It appears that everything went well. Pat had a tear in his muscle that will heal itself. Until he is awake, the doctors won't be able to tell if there is any nerve damage. They are still monitoring his brain, although the CT scan from this morning at 5am, showed improvement. Seeing Pat lying in the ICU hospital bed, with all the monitors and tubes was heart wrenching. As Jimbo said, we can all imagine Pat waking up like a grizzly bear waking from hibernation. Nobody knows what he will remember. It is the doctors hope to possibly start the wake up process within the next couple of days. Good Night All.

Oh man! I am very saddened by this news. I saw Pat for the first time about two years ago. It was the first time I have seen him in over 20 years. I had a few classes with him at HBHS and we went to Talbert together. He is always a joy to be around. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. πŸ™πŸΌ
