My name is Sarah Sandford-Compertore. Many of you know that I have been battling with progressive Left Temporal Lobe epilepsy that was caused by a bad vaccination. What that means is that I have four different types of seizures that can get worse and worse over time. With your help I was able to go to the Mayo Clinic two years ago and have brain surgery for a device called a DBS, or Deep Brain Stimulator, to help control the seizures.
I already had a device called the VNS, or Vegas Nerve Stimulator, helping with my seizures before the DBS installation. So now, I take three different types of seizure medications with two implanted devices to control seizures. The good news is that I am having less seizures of less intensity and that couldn’t have happened without your help.
However, during my Mayo Clinic visit to prepare for the DBS implant I had a seizure so intense and violent that my tongue knocked out two of my front bottom teeth. The Mayo Clinic had never seen that happen before. Now, I am waiting for implants to fix the hole in my smile which is going to cost a bunch. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected job change I no longer have insurance that will cover the tooth implants and further needed care at the Mayo Clinic.
Scott and I have been through a lot of things these past years and have a ton more coming up. This is where we need your help. We cannot do this without your support! We would not be where we are without your help and we are truly grateful to have so many people surrounding us with love.
