In February 2021, my son Josiah (11), was diagnosed with moderate scoliosis. Being diagnosed with scoliosis myself at age 17, I was very familiar with the regular body aches, nerve issues and muscle pains, limitations, physical deformities, daily struggles and long term risks of what a spinal curvature meant. I will never forget the day I saw Josiah’s x-ray’s for the first time. I was devastated that his spine was curved in the shape of an “S” at the age of 10! His spine was a mirror image of my own spinal curvature, and I was heartbroken that my oldest child shared the same diagnosis. Scoliosis is not a terminal illness but there is no cure for it. Prolonged untreated scoliosis can become debilitating in many ways. I know that first hand. Traditional treatment, most often, leads to spine surgery, and rejecting that traditional option myself 17 years ago, I knew that I wanted something better and less invasive for my son.

Seeing me in a desperate mental and emotional state, knowing what scoliosis is like from my own journey, my husband took to the internet, sifting through scoliosis professionals. To our surprise, he found a doctor of scoliosis, just a few states away, that seemed to offer a natural, non-invasive, corrective treatment for scoliosis patients! We scheduled a phone consult right away, ended up scheduling corrective therapy with this doctor, and Josiah and I both experienced a 30% decrease in our spinal curvatures within two weeks! Amazing progress! We were so surprised and thankful for how the Lord worked everything out for us. What a mighty God we serve!

With some victories under our belt, we needed to turn our attention to my middle child. Evelyn just turned 8 and I knew from my original phone consult with the scoliosis doctor that I would need to have her checked for scoliosis. I was expecting her spine to be straight as an arrow, no problems whatsoever. To my shock and disappointment, she too had developed a spinal curvature. Unfortunately, her curve is a more advanced curve than that of her brother at two years younger! She has a very high risk of developing severe scoliosis through adolescence due to her curve being so far advanced at such a young age.

On the way home from the chiropractor with Evelyn, my mind was racing with thoughts and brainstorms of how I, a homemaker and homeschooling Mom of three children in a one income household, could help pay for the cost of treatment for two of my kids to receive a natural, non-invasive, corrective scoliosis treatment plan that is not covered by insurance. Up to this point, the Lord had amazingly provided financially for Josiah and I to receive our initial corrective therapy treatments. Josiah actually just finished up his second corrective therapy treatment this past February, which straightened his spine even more, praise God!

The most aggressive way to combat scoliosis in adolescents, through this corrective program we are pursuing, is to commit to one week of the corrective therapy every six months. That is the path I am on for my children. The more often we can get them to the scoliosis doctor for the intensive therapy, the quicker their spines will straighten and the sooner their bodies will heal from this invasive disease. Every individual case of scoliosis is different, however, we are anticipating to continue this corrective program until they are both finished growing, which means we have a long road ahead. We trust the Lord with this situation. After all, our children belong to Him and He has a plan mapped out for this in their lives. We are confident of that and we are continuing to seek Him as we move forward.

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

With the encouragement and help from a friend of mine, the Lord opened my eyes to the potential and possibilities with fundraising. I’ve already seen the Lord provide for us financially for the first two treatments for my son, Josiah, and I know He is more than able to continue providing for us according to His will.

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

If you’ve read this far and you feel inclined in your heart to help my family toward our financial goal, this page will allow you that opportunity (accepting check, cash or card). And thank you! If you are unable to give financially, would you consider praying for us? Prayer is powerful, and a lot of times it is the means by which God the Father moves in our lives, and we need Him to move mightily in this life circumstance. Prayer changes things. Prayer changes us and aligns us with His will. Thank you for your prayers!

If anyone reading this in intrigued by the scoliosis treatment we have experienced I would be pleased to share more information with you. You are more than welcome to reach out to me.
