In March of 2019, after a hospital visit, my father Tom was diagnosed with Cirrhosis of the Liver. Cirrhosis of the liver develops when there is chronic damage to the liver, leading to scarring and liver failure. When the liver develops scarring, it can no longer do it’s job efficiently, which leads to a build up of toxins in the blood, portal hypertension which increases the chance of hemorrhaging, ascites, and numerous life threatening complications. We are doing everything in our power to make sure that we sustain any liver function he may have, and possibly heal any of the damage that has been done.
Medical Expenses: (Weekly) Paracentesis, MRI, Blood Work, Endoscopy, and possibly Liver Transplant
His diet also has changed quite a bit, to encorporare all Whole Foods , and supplementation in order to give his liver a fighting chance.
Every dime that you so generously share is worth everything to us. The last thing we want him to worry about is how he is going to afford medical care. Insurance only goes so far, and we want to give him the best quality AND quantity of life possible!
He is my hero, my inspiration, and the best father I could ever have been blessed with. This is my thank you to him: for being such a wonderful and valuable fiancé, friend, and family member to those around him and for being my dad.
