Natasha Ott, beloved friend, family member, and social worker, died unexpectedly on March 20, 2020. The loss of her light is immeasurable, and will be felt by many for years to come.

This fund will be used to cover the costs of her after-death care, including cremation, transportation of her remains, and legal fees.

Any funds raised above and beyond the costs associated with her funereal needs will be donated in her name.

Latest Update

Thanks for letting me know the complete update wasn't visible. I'll post in segments as needed. Her apartment was furnished, so there is no furniture to ship, this is just for her personal belongings. She may have had a will, but it is probably in her apartment. This just adds another layer to dealing with all the details. Funeral and cremation estimated cost $3,200-3,600 Hazardous material remediation (cleaning and disinfecting the apartment) $1,350 Packing, handling, storage (contents of her apartment) $2,050 Legal fees (authorizations, signatures needed, etc.) $3,000 When we set up the fund, we were not aware of some things that need to be dealt with. We still don’t know of everything, we have not addressed shipping costs yet. These are just some of the things that people will have to think about when the unthinkable happens. When we have final figures, we will still make a donation in her name. Once again, thank you so much. Carol Coalson

My intent was not to ask for more donations, but to share information about things that must be considered in these circumstances. I would expect these costs to vary depending on where a death takes place, but I wanted to let people know ball-park figures should this happen to someone they know. We would not refuse additional contributions, but that was not the purpose of the update. Again, thank you for your support and kindness.

I'm a little unclear on the total you need to raise; if more is needed, I will be glad to contribute again.

The family of Natasha Ott thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous support and especially for your touching comments. It is especially heartwarming in a time that is difficult for everyone. I would like to let you know what will happen with your contributions. This is not a complete and accurate list, we are working with estimates for now. But, since it looks like we will not be the only family dealing with these issues in the current state of affairs,I would like to share what we have found out in case someone you know needs this information. Because Natasha lived in a different state than others of her family and travel is not advised now, everything must be done remotely. Also, her symptoms were those of covid-19, so there are contamination issues in cleaning her apartment. We can’t go there and just pack her belongings, but they must all be dealt with whether we have them shipped or whatever we do with them. Her apartment was furnished, so there is no furnit

hi Carol, thanks for the update but it looks like your message got cut off in the middle of it so we couldn't read the whole thing.
