Cole's Medical Expenses/Debt
In April, we met and fell in love with Cole, a 10 year old FIV+ old man with no teeth. We brought him home and he's been very happy here. Recently, he's shown a lot of worrying symptoms. In just one week we've had to take him to the vet 3 times, each time incurring more expenses. I am currently unemployed and we only have one income; we're barely keeping our heads above water with our normal expenses. We have been using our credit card to pay Cole's medical bills but now find ourselves drowning in debt. And we STILL do not have a diagnosis. We are fundraising to try to bring the credit card debt down to a more manageable amount. Please donate and share this fundraiser if you can.
Latest Update
Hello again everyone! Today was Cole's cardiologist appointment; we've been hoping to get him to this date and it's finally arrived. The last time I updated it was with the good news that he was feeling a lot better! Late last week though he started sneezing and sniffling so we took him in just to be safe; he has some kind of upper respiratory infection that is unrelated to everything else that's been happening. So he made it through the weekend okay. Today the cardiologist gave us the diagnosis: advanced restrictive cardiomyopathy. The prognosis for something like this isn't great--about 6 months--but it's such a relief to us to actually HAVE a diagnosis so that we can plan and move forward. The plan now is to try to get him feeling better on some different meds. We're hoping to get him a little healthier and make his remaining time (however long it is) more happy and comfortable. Hi everyone! Another update! Cole made it through the weekend and is thriving! He's regained his appetite, is drinking plenty of water, and has regained his strength to the point where he wants to play and run! We really can't believe it; Friday night we were sure it was over. We are still so overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. It means so much to us that we will be able to continue to get him lifesaving treatment without increasing our debt. Hi everyone. I wanted to send this update to give a huge thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We are completely overwhelmed by everyone's generosity & kindness. We are taking things day by day; last night it really seemed like Cole was at the end. But today he seems to be much better; drinking more water, a little more interested in food, a tiny bit more active. At this point we are going to see how things go and possibly try to get him to cardiologist as soon as we can. Thank you again for all your help! <3
