Get Her Liver Back Where It Belongs

Lady has been diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia. What that means is there's a hole in her diaphragm and her liver has migrated up into her chest. This is causing some difficulty breathing and other symptoms.

Lady is my emotional support animal. She is my little baby bowling ball, my goofy girl. I love her so much more than I ever thought I could love a cat.

When she's sick, I kind of turn into a wreck. And to get her back in working order and back to being an annoying little brat that wakes me up at 5 AM every morning for fresh wet food, that greets me at the door when I come home from work and demands to be pet before I do anything else, that runs between my legs to trip me when I get up to do anything in the house because she can't stand not being in the same room as me, I need to get her liver back down into her abdomen.

Latest Update

Lady did really well! She got a fentanyl patch for pain management that she tried chewing off so I had to add more tape. Her first recheck is on Tuesday to get the patch off and then she'll get her stitches out in 10-14 days. She got antibiotics to take too. The vet said we aren't out of the woods yet and I asked what that means exactly. Hopefully everything will heal well and the hernia will stay sealed. If it opens again we'll be back where we started. So these next two weeks are critical. Also it was $1300 some odd so I was able to pay for it all with the donation and didn't need to use the Care Credit card which is a big deal because I thought I wasn't going to have enough at all. But I have it for her post-surgical care now. I missed her so much! I'm so happy she's home!

Lady has her surgery scheduled for tomorrow! I got approved for a payment plan but on top of the Care Credit card I could really use help paying off the rest of the balance. I am about $400 away from the original goal. Thank you so much to everyone for your support, your kind words and donations helped me not have a nervous breakdown lol and made this possible in my goal time too! I wanted to get it done by the end of October. Thank you so much!!

I've been approved for a payment plan and her surgery is scheduled for November 1st! 🙏 Any help is still appreciated so I can pay the vet and the Care Credit card off quickly. Thank you so much everyone that has donated. You've given me hope when I've been a wreck over her. I couldn't have done this without you. Maybe after she's feeling better I could get one of those pet safe ink pads and send you all thank you cards with a paw print.

I'm worried she has a fever again. If her symptoms aren't better by Monday then I'll make an appointment with the vet but I'll have to use the Care Credit card and pay it off on Thursday when I get paid so I probably won't be able to put in my own money. We are $576 away from the goal.

She's had allergy symptoms all weekend and I gave her the antihistamine which seems to have helped alleviate some of the symptoms. But she had a coughing fit just now. They can only do the surgery when she's healthy so the sooner I get the money raised the better.

Her breathing seems really shallow and hard today. I applied for Care Credit and got approved for a $600 limit so I only need to raise $900

Lady had a coughing fit just now. I can get more Metacam to help but she really really needs this surgery.

Her breathing is shallow today. Her behavior and eating is fine and she's cuddly and sleeping in her cat bed next to me right now. But her liver is pressing on her lungs or taking up too much room so she can't breathe well.

Her resting breathing rate seems a little high right now. Her liver is likely pressing on her lungs. The rate seems to vary as well as the depth (intensity?) of her chest rising and falling. I'm trying not to focus too much because I could just be paranoid! We are officially a quarter of the way there!!! Thats a big deal! That's already a huge chunk of change that would have taken me months to raise. I hope we can keep up the momentum and I can get her surgery before December, maybe even next month 🤞 It means so much everyone that has donated. It's helped me calm my worries knowing that at worst I've at least got a head start on saving up for her surgery.

This is one of my fave photos of her bleps. Oh my goodness! We're almost a quarter of the way there! I am so so so unbelievably grateful for all of your support, kind words, and spreading the word! Lady's behavior is back to normal. She's eating and playing and being annoying batting at my face for fresh wet food at 5 AM or attacking my arm when I'm using the computer and meowing like it's an affront to her entire being that I'm not paying attention to her instead. Hopefully we won't have a fever flare up again for a while because the surgery can only be done when she's healthy. Thank you again! I'm giving her so many pets and kisses from you all and telling her people on the Internet love her!
