Update on June 1, 2019: I made a blog to document their progress and the handling of the raised funds for their care here: https://taffyandtiffanyrose.home.blog

Hello, neighbors in our community. Taffy is a houseless dog who is loved by her houseless human. Taffy has a growth that must be removed as it is anticipated to be cancerous. It has also become unbearably painful for her so the growth must be removed ASAP.

Taffy is scheduled for surgery at VCA Animal Hospital on Wednesday, May 22 so *time is of the essence*. Katrina from Sunnyside and Jeff from Richmond took Taffy, Tiffany Rose (Taffy's daughter...yes, her real daughter) and their human there today and within several hours, our great community was able to raise the funds to cover the cost for the care today.

People called VCA directly with their donations and it was awesome!

When I was on the phone with VCA Animal Services when making my own donation, I learned that the cost could range between $1500 and $1800. But all dog owners know that when you're at the vet there's always some kind of unforeseen added expense.

So now have a new, larger goal of $1800 for Taffy's treatment plan. The treatment plan includes the surgery, meds, etc. This Plumfund is for the busy and/or phone shy members of our community who would rather donate online and not have to get on the phone.

If we exceed funds, the money will still go towards care for both Taffy and Tiffany Rose as they have other pressing medical matters, mostly much needed dental work. We will prioritize at our discretion but to reiterate: The money will not go towards anything but Taffy and Tiffany Rose's care. Thank you!

Latest Update

Hi everyone! Momma Taffy is in recovery mode and got her sutures removed today. I made a blog to document her progress (as well as Baby Tiffany Rose's progress) at https://taffyandtiffanyrose.home.blog All updates will be there from now on. Thank you for following and caring, neighbors! We are very grateful.

Hello, all. I am so sorry to share the news that it was learned that Taffy has cancer. It has spread. It is too late. I met her for the first time today and she did seem to be in good spirits. Great dog. So is her baby dog daughter, Tiffany Rose. It is so great though that she is no longer having to deal with that clearly painful, infected mass. Thank you everyone for your help. We have extra funds and the next step for now is to get both dogs dental work after Taffy has recovered from the surgery. We will keep everyone posted. Thanks again.

I am beside myself. First off, Taffy is out of surgery and doing well. She was and is in good hands. Secondly, I called the vet to try and settle the bill. It turns out that there was NO balance because so many people had called in and covered the invoice with only a difference of less than $100, which then covered by Jeff...one of the two caring individuals who spearheaded this whole thing. Very grateful to this community. Very grateful to Katrina and Jeff who had never met before and teamed up to help these dogs and their human. And most of all, very grateful to Taffy and Tiffany Rose's human who was both gracious and humble enough to accept help.

Hi everyone! First of all, I wanted to make a correction. The dog getting the surgery is Taffy, not Tiffany Rose. Taffy is the older dog (the mom of Tiffany Rose). Secondly, Taffy is at her surgery right now. Will give an update when it is over. Thank you so much for everyone who has helped the girls in any way. Thank you thank you thank you.

Wow! It hadn't even been 24 hours and we had surpassed our goal! Tiffany Rose's surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at VCA Laurelhurst Animal Hospital on NE Sandy here in Portland, Oregon. Will update after surgery. Thank you so much to every single person who donated and/or gave us ideas on how to pursue care for Tiffany Rose and her daughter, Taffy. If we have leftover funds after the surgery, the next step will be dental work. Thank you, all!!!
