Update 8/16: Mr B has passed away :'(

Update 8/16: Mr B is in the hospital at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center. Urgent help needed.

If you know me, you know I love my dog Mr B (aka Bailey) with all my heart. Mr B desperately needs veterinary care that I cannot afford. Can you help?

If you have been following my Facebook posts, 2018 has been a rough year. B got a diagnosis of heart failure back in February. He has a heart murmur that is now at a grade 6 (the max, which means it is so loud you can hear it without a stethoscope). X-rays showed his heart was so enlarged it was pressing on his trachea, which worsened his collapsed trachea issue. However, after seeing a cardiologist who did an echo and prescribed some meds, he did much better for a while.

Fast forward to July and he started coughing again. The prescription cough meds didn't help this time. My local vet did not have an answer. As time progressed with no solution, B started having respiratory issues and what seemed like a greater burden on the heart. I tried everything I could on my own. Finally, a relief vet rotated into the local clinic with more knowledge, and she was able to add in another heart medication and steroids to help with the breathing and cough. She thinks he has emphysema. However, she feels like he really needs a good digital x-ray to determine exactly what is going on, and the local vet just doesn't have a good x-ray machine. Mr B needs to see the cardiologist again. Furthermore, he also has the mysterious ALP liver values that have been skyrocketing for well over a year which probably indicate Cushings disease, according to the vet. (This has taken a backseat because of the severity of the heart and lung issue, though it is serious).

The most PRESSING issue right now though, is that B is not getting enough oxygen. He is coughing off and on, and his little heart and lungs are working so hard. As I mentioned in a Facebook post, he fainted after running. (He is now on leash at all times when going outside).

I urgently need funds to take him to the cardiologist and at minimum have a digital x ray done to see what is going on. I know they will want to do a whole lot more than that. I know the cost will add up quickly. And after he gets a diagnosis, he still needs to be treated. My resources are exhausted from all I have spent so far and from my own medical emergency last month.

I love this dog more than life itself. It is so traumatic to see him sick and for me to feel so powerless. Below is link to a brief YouTube video of Mr B coughing today (copy and paste, can't do live link):

I do not feel like B is suffering at this time. He still eats, still wants to go outside (though it is way too hot, even for me, to go for walks). He is still happy. I do not (nor does my trusted veterinarian friend) feel like this is an appropriate time for euthanasia. If at any moment I do feel like he is suffering, I feel like euthanasia is the humane thing to do. I am heartbroken to even THINK about it. I certainly do not feel like I should euthanize him instead of spending money at the vet.

I love this dog. I love this dog more than life itself. As you may know, my Granddaddy was the one who found him as a stray. He gave him to Mama, and I took him in after Mama died. So Mr B is my link to both Mama and Granddaddy. He's been with me pretty much every day since 6/6/2010. We've been through so much together. I am so upset over this thing, especially having just lost Granddaddy. I don't want to lose Mr B!!!

I realize times are tough for lots of folks, but anything you could do to help would be much appreciated.

If you want to send me funds by Paypal directly my email address is HollyBottomley@gmail.com. Other option is to send directly by Facebook Messenger (both of those options are free to send). Or contact me for my address. If I receive donations outside the Plumfund framework, I will mention them here.

Thank you for caring about my boy!!!

Upcoming Appointments:

His next vet appointment is on Friday 8/17 with the local vet, Morrison Vet Clinic.

I've scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist at Charleston Veterinary Referral Center on 8/22, which is the earliest I can get him in. I am hoping I can get enough money together by then for her to be able to run some tests. I am also hoping that B doesn't have any kind of emergency before then.
