I HAVE ADHD!
I have decided to be open about my ADHD diagnosis with you, my family and community, as well as to my employers, now and in the future. The decision to be open with employers has been a big step as we live in a culture that has a huge stigma around mental health. Being labeled incompetent at your job, and possibly losing it altogether, is a real possibility for many with even minor mental health issues. My mission to normalize discussing mental health starts with myself. I’ve begun talking about my ADHD as no big deal and guiding others to interact with me accordingly, giving them the context that it’s completely normal to discuss this topic.
I have been awarded a registration scholarship from the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) to volunteer at the Annual International Conference on ADHD this coming November in St. Louis, and I need your help getting there and staying there for the week of the conference!
I want to interview psychiatrists, psychologists, coaches, and other experts and share their views in my first YouTube series about how we can move away from stigma and towards normalization through communication regarding mental health. I want to highlight different ways we can all shine the light on our humanness and take the shame out of how we experience our mental health challenges. Normalizing mental health as just something that we take care of, like check-ups at the doctor and the dentist, will be key in successfully addressing mental health conditions in our society.
My plan is to stay at the conference hotel to cut back on transportation costs and help maximize my time at the conference building relationships with leaders in this field who are effecting change.
***My goal WAS to raise $1,475.00... *but* just got another roommate, so my new goal is $900.00!***
If you’d like to be a part of making my mission a reality, please help me reach this goal of attending the Conference on ADHD by donating, liking, commenting, and/or sharing this funding campaign.

Thank you for any and all support you can give! My new and improved goal (thanks to two fabulous roomies I'll have at the conference) is $888.00, which is less than $600.00 more to go to reach my goal! I appreciate your good energy, too! :)
