Dear friends and family,
We are asking for monetary contributions to help our cousin, Liliet Silva Carmenates, a gifted violinist, travel to the United States from Cuba, to participate in the National Music Festival in Chestertown, Maryland at Williams College. The festival runs from June 4-17, 2017. After the festival, we would like Liliet to experience life in America by traveling to several states.
Four years ago, when Liliet was just 14 years old, she moved from her hometown of Camagüey, Cuba to attend the prestigious National School of Music in Havana, Cuba where she will soon complete a music degree with a specialty in violin.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime for Liliet. This experience will broaden Liliet´s horizon and open doors that she never imagined.
The monetary contributions will cover the cost of Liliet´s travel, food and lodging. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Our goal is to raise $4,000. Ann and I are contributing $500 each, so we need to raise $3,000.

P.S. For those of you that are interested in how we are related, we share a second great grandfather, Jose Rafael Castellanos Guillén del Castillo, who died in 1896 at the age of 91, fighting for independence from Spain. Liliet is a descendant from his first marriage, while Ann and I are descendants from his third marriage.
