Hello everyone! My name is Naeliss Goris. I’m also known as Nelly. I’m a teenage girl in search of help for funds to help my mother with some costs for college.

I am attending Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry,NY in the fall of 2017. Because of great academic progress I’ve made, I was offered a guaranteed transfer spot at Stony Brook University for fall 2018. I am extremely thankful for the opportunity because Stony Brook was my first choice. I actually lost encouragement to apply to the school because of my grades from past years but my teacher and my family never lost faith in me. So I applied and got in.

At home, it's just my mother and I, with one income in the household. I am eighteen now, so yes, I am working on the side to try to help out as much as I can. My mother is in college herself and works at the airport with really crazy hours at times. It's a lot for my mother since my father is unable and unwilling to contribute in anything involving my school situation, she's been handling it pretty well. Unfortunately, because expenses for school are too much for my mother, she’s going to have to move in with my aunt. This is happening when I leave for school in the fall. It's upsetting because I've lived in my home all my life but my mother tells me it’s what’s best for us economically.

I am tremendously grateful for going to college and all the support I am currently receiving, but I still need your help.

See about 2 years ago, I was just your average teenage girl with boy problems, friend drama, and bad hair days. I also became the new girl. My sophomore year I was bullied. Bullying is the worst thing that can happen to an individual because they make isolate from everyone. A little while after it started happening, They started picking at my friends. My junior year was the worst moments of my life. I was assaulted by four people. I had no idea this was coming. Since my experience, in terms of decision making, I've realized I am more cautious about certain things such as trusting people or reacting in a rational way. Which caused my grades to drop somewhat but I still got back on track.

Because of everything I have experienced and to help young people, I want to be a child psychologist. Maybe involve myself in the field of counseling or child therapy to help kids who have dealt with bullying or have ever felt they were alone and had no one in their corner. I feel like this is something I can honestly contribute too, personally and informational wise.

And anything you can contribute will be highly appreaciated and I thank you!
