Signing Up

How much does it cost? It's free!

Plumfund is totally free! There are no transaction fees and no setup fees. This is possible because contributors pay the money directly to the organizer, offline, by cash or check.

Organizers may also accept online payments (powered by PayPal). The 3rd-party fee is just 2.59% + $0.49*, deducted from each transaction (*PayPal's fee of 2.59% + $0.49 applies to most credit/debit card payments. Other rates may apply). Contributors pay nothing and there are no additional fees.

Receiving Payments

How does Plumfund's credit card processing work?

Online payments via credit/debit card are powered by PayPal (US and Canada). There is no Plumfund fee, and the 3rd-party fee is just 2.59% + $0.49 (US)/transaction*, deducted from the gift amount (*PayPal's fee of 2.59% + $0.49 applies to most credit/debit card payments. Other rates may apply).

Someone contributed to my campaign but I haven't received payment. Why?

With Plumfund, contributors pay according to the options you provided (either offline via cash or check, or online with a credit card.) Gifts are displayed on the Contributions page, either as Pledges (unpaid) or Received (paid). Offline gift always remain as Pledges until you receive the payment and manually update the payment date.

To see which payment option your contributor selected, visit the Contributions page. Cash or check payments will simply be given to you by the contributor, offline, at which point you will manually update the payment date.

If it was a credit card purchase, it should automatically display as Paid. If not, please login to your PayPal account and view the History to check if the payment was indeed completed.

How do I issue a credit card refund?

Since online payments are sent directly to your PayPal account (or WePay if you created your account prior to Jan 25, 2021), Plumfund cannot issue refunds. However if a contributor requests a refund for their online payment, you can issue it following these instructions:

  1. Locate the payment in your PayPal account.
  2. Click the Details link.
  3. Follow the refund instructions there.

My funds are being held in reserve. What should I do?

If you are having trouble accessing your funds in your PayPal account (or WePay if you created your account prior to Jan 25, 2021), contact us immediately. We have a special arrangement with both companies and we can usually get the funds released.

Contributing

I contributed to a Plumfund but I don't know if my payment went through.

There are two ways to pay for a Plumfund contribution; 1) Offline, where you print a certificate and give it to the organizer with cash or check, or pay online.

If you paid online, you should have received an e-mail receipt. Check your e-mail for the receipt and/or your credit card activity for the charge.

If you aren't sure which payment method you chose, check your Plumfund confirmation e-mail. There you will find either a receipt or payment instructions for the payment method you selected. If you don't have the Plumfund e-mail, please check your spam folder or contact us and we will resend it to you.

My credit card is not being accepted. What should I do?

If your card is declined, please try your transaction again, and be sure to correctly enter the billing address of the card.

If your credit card still doesn't go through, we suggest you choose one of our offline payment methods. You can either send a check in the mail directly to the organizer or present cash or check in person.

I've changed my mind. How do I cancel my contribution?

If you have NOT yet paid, please click the link in your Plumfund confirmation e-mail. There you can cancel the pledge. If you don't have the e-mail, contact us and we can cancel the pledge for you.

If you HAVE already paid online or given the organizer the funds, we cannot cancel the payment. You will need to make arrangements directly with the organizer to retrieve your funds.
