It took many years for Al & I to find each other so when we got married we thought we were too old to become parents. God surprised us when I found out I was pregnant with Abigail. Unfortunately, I gave birth to Abi at 34 weeks after doctor's lost her heartbeat. After 10 days & many tests, we made the impossible decision to let God have His precious angel back. Now almost 3 years later, we are still trying to have another baby. Things were looking grim. I was too old to get pregnant on my own & with treatments costing so much, we are looking for a miracle. We have so much love to give though & would love to have a child of our own. Whether through IVF treatments, donor eggs or even adoption, we are asking for help with our miracle & adding to our family.

Latest Update

Well after several more doctor visits, exams & tests, my hope is waning. But we haven't given up yet. It has become pretty certain that I will not be able to have a baby with my own - old - eggs. So the reality is setting in that we will need to raise the money for a donor egg & treatment OR newborn/toddler adoption. I wish someone who was pregnant would knock on our door right now & ask us to adopt their baby. We would do it in a heartbeat. There is so much love in our hearts! We can't help dreaming of a child we can call our own!

Well, all signs are good right now. Had a follow up sonogram done to check my left ovary & confirm that all 3 cysts are gone! Ovaries look good & there appears to be no damage! So that was great news. My blog is ongoing as well for anyone interested in following along: myhealingheart.net I have been sharing our journey with Abi there. Thank you all for your support & prayers.

Well, finally got some good news from a doctor's visit! The 3 ovarian cysts appeared to have gone away on their own so no surgery will be needed at this time. Of course, I will have to go back in a week for a sonogram to verify the diagnosis, but it was much needed good news. Have also found out that while our insurance doesn't cover fertility treatments, it does have a discount program associated with a particular clinic here in San Antonio. Fingers crossed that we can get a discounted pricing in the near future that will help us get closer to our dream of a child of our own!

A few more ultrasounds & there were 2 "decent sized" cysts on my left ovary. I've been dealing with rupturing cysts since I was 13. No big deal or so I thought. They should go away on their own. But I just have to be difficult. I go in a week & 1 day later for them to look again & I have a third small cyst starting. Who does that? So have to get them to go away through medication or surgery in order to begin this process. Praying surgery is not necessary!

Well, I had an HSG procedure done & found that my tubes are open so now it comes down to a "low ovarian reserve" being the apparent issue. It appears that we would have to consider a donor egg in order to do the IVF treatments. It's a lot to think about. After losing Abi & miscarrying 5 months after that, the thought of a baby is wonderful, but the thought of another heartache is devastating as well. I'm not giving up hope though. We just need one healthy, well-timed egg. Prayers are continuing.

So after several more tests, the doctors have determined for sure that our chances of getting pregnant on our own are less than 10%. Still praying for our miracle to happen, but it was definitely heartbreaking news to get today.
