Welcome to our Plum Fund Page! We are Growing Tree Children’s Center, a non-profit child care center serving over 100 children and their families in Bend, Oregon. We have been offering quality child care and a strong learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 6 years since 1979.

In order to provide the best learning environment possible our center embarked on a project to remodel each classroom. To date, we have successfully updated five of our seven classrooms! We need your help to remodel the last two rooms – our Branch & Blossom Rooms. These classes house our 3 and 4-year-old programs. It has been 10 years since these rooms got a makeover!

Our goal is to raise $66,512 to complete both classroom remodels in 2014. Our plan is to update the Branch room first as soon as we secure funding and then follow with the Blossom room. You can help by donating to our Plum Fund right here by selecting an item or making a general donation. Remodeling these last two classrooms will help us ensure that we can continue to offer updated, developmentally appropriate learning environments that meet the needs of each child and their family.

Research has shown that children in developmentally appropriate programs are:

• Less stressed/anxious

• Better creative thinkers

• Better communicators

Quality classrooms also encourage children to practice developmental skills. This includes emotional, physical, cognitive and social development.

Lily, age four, enters her new preschool classroom for the very first time. She looks around and tries to determine what happens in this space? Does she belong here? Will it be an interesting place to spend her days? Will she be supported as she grows and develops? Lily will discover the answers through her interactions with the physical environment of her classroom. If she spends her day in an effectively designed environment, Lily will be physically, emotionally, aesthetically and intellectually nurtured. This appropriate environment can maximize her intellectual potential and provide a foundation for the development of her emotional security.

Help Lily and all of the Growing Tree children succeed by helping us complete our classroom remodeling project!
