Driving home very late at night on sunday, November 17th, I spotted this beautiful dog on the floor, in the middle of the street. Somebody had run her over and drove off. A few bystanders had stayed around to help divert traffic, but she was left on the ground for over an hour. My sister and I jumped out of the car. I got onto the ground and spoke to her, while my sister looked for something to put her on.
Within minutes, we put her in our car. My sister drove and I sat in the back with the puppy (we would soon name Angel). It was the most agonizing 30 minute drive of my life; i could see the poor dog traumatized and scared, depending on us to help her.
Well, after the surgery she needs, my sister and I have a hefty 7,000 dollar bill. Even though we brought her to the ASPCA, it was made clear to us that either we claim responsibility and pay the bill or she would not be helped and would eventually be euthanized.
I wont begin to tell you how many people told us to put her down. I don't know when we all sat down and decided which lives were worth saving and which were not, but this gorgeous, brave dog's life is worth every dollar and every minute we have.
My sister and I are college students. We make it by. By no means do we have the money, and the ASPCA is giving us only 6 months to pay off the almost 7,000 dollars in hospital and surgery bills.
Angel is adjusting to her new life. She is still in a lot of pain and can easily become scared. But we love every minute of helping her get through this. She is one of the most gentle, and loving animals I have met. I am thankful to have helped her, and thankful to all those who can help us now.
Thank you,
Kris Senior & Ashley Senior
