Hello everyone,
My name is Kim Johnson, and I’m asking for financial assistance from family, friends, and everyone else who can contribute to my request to raise money to help pay for my upcoming surgery. I need to have a L4-L-5 Central Discectomy , and L5-S1 Discectomy Decompression (repair of herniated discs to my back) scheduled on September 15, 2014. While I have medical insurance to cover part of the billing, I don’t have the required "up front " 10% co-pay I’m expected to pay prior to being admitted and I have to consider the recovery time while I'm not working. I’m told the procedure will cost about $ 20,000.00, and I’ll need to hand over 10% (2000.00) on the 12th, or reschedule my surgery. Then I will recover and try to remain afloat financially, all the while not receiving my normal paycheck.
I’m financially strapped right now because I just recently recovered from a prior medical catastrophe. I fell down a flight of stairs and broke my ankle in 3 places. I was laid up and unable to work from Jun 2013 through Feb 2014. That period of treatment also required a 3- month stay in a nursing home. Needless to say, the reduced disability income and high medical bills quickly saturated my finances before I could be back on my feet. I’m still dealing with the financial and mental setback from my ankle accident, and lo and behold, this back issue I suffer from has demanded attention. I’ve been trying to deal with it and the associated pain in the past. I’ve already undergone mostly all the “band aid” treatments I can (cortisone & steroid shots, epidurals, nerve ablation), and I’m now being told my only relief from this debilitating condition and pain can only be brought about through surgery. Would I prefer to not have any surgical procedures done on my back?
ABSOLUTELY!! But I know I can no longer endure the pain associated with this SCIATIC NERVE problem.
