Remember how great preschool was for your kids? How much they needed to learn about being part of a community? Now imagine having spent your whole young life in Syria or a refugee camp – bombs, war, no playing outside, no real schedule, no opportunities for socialization…
Through Eyes on Refugees, I have been lucky enough to meet two Syrian families and their kids who are living in the Boston area. Both families arrived this fall and have been working hard to get settled and become self-sufficient. Paying for preschool is a real luxury for them and may remain so for the next few years. These kids have been through a lot of terrible things and early education is not a “nice-to-have experience” for them, it’s something they really need after the isolation of being in camps. Can you be part of their village? A donation of $1800 would cover a month for all four children, $225 works out to approximately two weeks for one of the children. I’d love to have this fund cover all four kids for the rest of this year and next year. We could do it.
Although individually we may feel little ability to solve the overall refugee crisis, together we can make a transformative difference for the futures of these two families.
Eyes On Refugees is a 501(c)(3). Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Thanks for considering,
Rebecca
