Make Your Own!
Started by: Vernoca Michael
More than 25 years ago, Frances P. Aulston and the West Philadelphia Cultural Alliance (WPCA) embarked on a campaign to create a legacy for the inimitable Paul Robeson in the form of a house that bore his name.
It was the house where Robeson – singer, actor, lawyer, social activist, orator, college football star – lived with his sister in West Philadelphia during the last 10 years of his life starting in 1966. Aulston and the WPCA acquired the house in 1994 and embarked on a road to make it literally their own.
That road has come to an end, and the WPCA is now the proud owner of both the Robeson house and the adjacent twin, which is used for administrative offices.
Through your contributions, we have finally paid off the mortgage but still need to make repairs to both houses. We are a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax-deductible.
Please donate as generously to our repair fund as you did to help us pay off the mortgage.
The Plumfund allows for three ways to donate: directly from your Paypal account balance to our Paypal account (wphlca@gmail.com), credit card via Paypal to our Paypal account, or by check payable to WPCA and mailed to our address: 4949 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19139.
When paying by check, please click the "Pay Offline" link to the right of the Contributor Information heading on the Plumfund page and follow the instructions.
Visit us at paulrobesonhouse.org, on Facebook, and on-site at the house itself at 4951 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19139, or call 215-747-4675.
