Started by: Diane Propsner
Hello! My name is Diane Propsner, and I’m creating a STEM book for girls. The book, titled Girls Who Discovered Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), will demonstrate the amazing successes of women in STEM fields to encourage girls to pursue their interest in a possible STEM career.
The book, suited for girls in middle or high school, is packed with real career stories from amazing STEM women. Writing about their occupation, these role models also share how they discovered STEM, while providing encouragement and practical guidance. Written from the heart, this collection of stories are sure to inform, delight, and empower.
Growing up, I was fascinated by science, and my love for the field inspired me to earn an undergraduate degree in biology. Throughout my career, I’ve always looked for ways to empower other women to succeed in STEM.
Now my focus is on the next generation, which is the reason for this book project. I’m passionate about publishing Girls Who Discovered Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and getting this book into the hands of as many girls as possible.
Having surrounded myself with other STEM women who feel the same way, together, our goal is to inspire the next generation of STEM women by showing girls that women can and are enjoying STEM careers.
Here’s where I need your help and why I started this fundraising campaign.
To date, I’ve spoken with hundreds of STEM women, resulting in the collection of 67 draft stories. With stories in hand, much of the heavy lifting is done, but there’s still more work required. My next step is getting the manuscript ready for publication. The biggest part of this step includes engaging an editing and artistic talent team. By contributing to my fundraising campaign, you’ll be helping me get closer to my 2017 anticipated book launch date.
